This conference is jointly organized by Laboratory of Innovations in Mathematics Education, Institute for Mathematical Research, Universiti Putra Malaysia and Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris in bringing together many great minds and golden opportunity to share and exchange experience, insights, skills and knowledge in mathematics education. As the guest editor of this issue, I am glad to receive variety of articles related to mathematics education covering four major areas namely - pedagogy in mathematics education, philosophy of mathematics and ethno-mathematics, instructional design and technology in mathematics, psychology of teaching and learning mathematics and applied mathematics related areas to mathematics education. The conference theme “Towards Excellence in Mathematics Education” takes that original vision one step further. It aims to promote a culture of excellence in mathematics education research through the presentation, discussion and publication of some of the recent trends and issues relevant to the improvement of mathematics performance in this region. A special note of thanks to the numerous scholars who contributed papers to this issue of the journal. Each paper has been blind peer-reviewed by the reviewers. The reviewers’ recommendations were then conveyed to the authors for further improvement. On behalf of the organizers, we would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Panel of Reviewers, Members of the Editorial Committee, all Authors and everyone whose contributions have made the publication of this Procedia possible.
