Well done to our Year 10 students who have just completed

their PPEs! Take a look at some of the Art submissions which Mr

Whitlock has brought to our attention.

The Art PPE was based around ‘Food and Packaging’. Esme H’s

slice of pizza looks good enough to eat and producing high

quality Art is a piece of cake for Olivia G! Well done to you both,

these pieces look amazing!

Each week on a Friday you will have

noticed that our students of Key

Workers in school get creative in the

kitchen and last week was no

different. See what they made

below...

Burger Friday

On Friday 3rd July our students of Key Workers in school learnt how to make healthy burgers. Everyone enjoyed their burgers and agreed that they were fun to make and delicious to eat. Well done to you all! You are learning brilliant kitchen skills which you can share with your family and friends. Food is a great way of bringing people together!

Sport & Exercise

The PE Department are continuing to showcase our staff sporting interests and exercise. This week the

PE Department present... Mr Crowe, Geography

Well Done!

Class of 2021

‘Supporting our senior students with messages of motivation!’

Message from your Head of Year

“I would like to start off by saying Thank You to the whole year group – we have had a really

successful week collecting in PPE papers, it has given me yet another reason to be incredibly

proud of the year group! I would like to thank all the students for their motivation and

determination to complete their PPEs under new and challenging conditions, and also a big

thank you to parents and carers for supporting our Year 10s to ensure the PPEs have been

completed and handed in.

This week has also seen the final week off core lessons with our Year 10s. The past few weeks

have been really positive and the feedback we’ve had from students has been inspiring! We

hope that these core sessions have helped prepare the Year 10s ready for their return as Year 11s

in September. I look forward to seeing many of you back in school next week to touch base with

your option subject teachers – I know they are looking forward to touching base with you before

the summer!

I have uploaded a tutor challenge on Classcharts for individuals to log in and engage with

GCSEPod over the next week to ensure everybody is able to access the revision tool ready for

next year. Please let me know during the week if you are struggling to log in (website or app!)

and I will help with login codes. Next week I will announce the winning tutor group of this

challenge – the tutor group with the most students to log in during the week! A BIG shout out to

Katie D in 10A/ACE who set 10A in the lead by being the first person to log in to GCSEPod for this

challenge! Good Luck logging in and exploring!” Miss Blundell

Message from 10D Tutor

‘I am extremely proud of the work ethic that my tutor group has reflected. Every student, that I

have seen, has shown a real urge to want to work and do well.’ Miss Briggs

Year 10 Photography PPE

‘The contrast between the image of the fragile flower and how it is presented like a shattered

window is powerful!’

Well done Jamie C!

Mr Whitlock, Art & Photography

Year 10 Art PPE

'It has been an absolute pleasure to receive so many high quality and imaginative pieces of work from our Year 10 students for their PPEs, it really does demonstrate how

motivated, hardworking and imaginative they are.'

Well done to Lucy H for your Dunkin’ Donuts!

MFL Challenge - The Decider!

French Vs Spanish

This is it! This is the big one! It's 1-1 and we have played extra time and now it's down to sudden death! Whoever wins this challenge will be crowned MFL champion (and we all know French should be the winner, don't we?)

What we would like you to do this time is to translate the phrases on the Word document on Class Charts, and to take a picture of something (a teddy, a pet, a tennis ball) doing the activity to show you’ve taken it and not just copied the picture from the internet.

Send your completed entry to [email protected] / [email protected]

Where it will be forwarded to Mr Ashcroft for French or Miss Uguen for Spanish

So, please, get out there and take photos of your dogs, cats, teddies, tennis balls completing the activities on the list! Send your answers in by Monday 20th July!

Mr Ashcroft, MFL

A Message from Fareham College

I am excited to inform you that although your Year 10’s have missed their taster day this year, we

have created a bespoke page for them on our website so that they can get an online taster for

what Fareham College has to offer.

The page includes videos showcasing all courses and campuses, downloadable prospectuses,

information about types of study (Full Time, Apprenticeships and T Levels etc,) and testimonials

from some of our students.

We hope your students find this useful!

Year 8 Art

Year 8 are currently working on developing their ideas for their own graffiti design. They were

asked to imagine that they were a graffiti artist and they had been asked to design a piece for a

wall in their town. The brief is open but they must be inspired by the artists we have previously

looked at using bold colours and recognisable subject matter.

Below are initial designs by Tristan B, Rebecca F, Sophie F and Jamie S.

I am looking forward to seeing their final pieces next week!

No change to the top four this week. There is still time to finish with a place in the Lockdown Premier League with a couple of weeks to go. It looks like the winner might come from one of the top three but anything is possible. It is great to see so many of you taking responsibility for your learning and making such an amazing effort. Keep up the good work! Be aware that a GCSE Pod competition has been set for Year 9 to watch the 'Getting Ready for KS4' pods. For every one that you watch (2 hours for each subject) you will get 10 pride points and a ticket to be entered into a raffle to win a £5 and £10 Amazon voucher. Any general queries or any examples of creative projects you have been working on please contact [email protected]. Mr Whitlock, Head of Year 9
