We can truly say, as we close out another incredible school year, that this has been one of inspiration, pride, and accomplishment. Our students have learned so much, have participated in school life with enthusiasm, have given back to the community, and have developed and displayed true leadership. June always brings the opportunity to cele- brate all that our students do. On June 6 th , we held our Arts Spring Spectacular, and acknowledged both returning and graduating students for their contribution to the Arts across all disciplines. We also welcomed our new Arts Program students who will be joining us in September. On June 7 th , all athletic award winners were celebrated at our annual banquet. In both team and individual sports, our students performed well and we saw lots of action locally, regionally and provincially. Graduation was a wonderful event, full of mixed emotions. While we are so proud of our graduates, and excited about the many path- ways they will take, we are also sad to see them go and will miss their presence in the school. However, we are confident that they will do great things, and will always be Chargers at heart. At this time, we would like to thank all who support our students and our school. We are grateful for the Learning Foundation for help- ing us provide healthy snacks and lunches for our students, as well as providing financial assistance for students and families in emer- gency situations. We appreciate our families for all the support they provide both behind the scenes and during the many events we hold throughout the year. We value the dedi- cation, energy and passion that our staff bring to Centennial Secondary School each and every day. Finally, we thank our students for striving each and every day to do their best and for consistently demonstrating Charger Pride. We have a few goodbyes this year. Nora Brown, our Educational Assistant in the Student Success Room is retiring. On a daily basis, she supported and encouraged the many students who visited her room for help. She consistently provided students with posi- tive reinforcement and will be missed. Angie Friel, our Practical Learning Teacher will be- come an Itinerant Teacher for Autistic stu- dents in September, so we are hoping to still see her! However, both staff and students will deeply feel the hole she leaves in so many areas in the school. Her leadership has been much appreciated. Mark Stanley will be head- ing over to Quinte Secondary School in the fall to join their English department. We wish him the best of luck as he makes the transition to a new school. When students return in September, they will notice a few changes. Our library renovation is well underway and was greatly enhanced with a $25,000.00 donation from the John M. and Bernice Parrott Foundation. All of our exterior doors and windows will be replaced as well over the summer. The Automotive Technology shop will be receiving new equipment and desks and chairs in several classrooms will be replaced. Our timetable will also change. School will start at 8:15 am and end at 2:30 pm. There will be a 10 minute break between periods 1 and 2 and again between periods 4 and 5. Lunch will run from 10:55 to 11:50 am. Please find enclosed your student’s report card. If you have any questions or concerns, please call the school. We hope that every- one has a wonderful, relaxing summer and that our students return refreshed and rejuve- nated- ready for another amazing school year. Global Awareness at CSS The Global Awareness Committee of Centennial Secondary School continued to work collaboratively to raise funds to assist: Doctors Without Borders, the Stephen Lewis Foundation, Free the Children and the Canadian Red Cross. The Committee was able to assist the victims of Fort McMurray, children who require treatment and vac-cines in third world countries, as well as an education for children living in poverty. The Global Awareness Committee has worked in a meaningful way for the past decade to donate generously to our local and global communities and make tangible changes. Thank you to all present and past students who have donated their time and input to this worthy cause.

CSS Vintage Clothing Sale

Centennial's first ever Quality Vintage Clothing Sale took place Wednesday June 1st in the front foyer. Stu-dents, staff and members of our community were able to fill a bag with clothes for $2 with all money raised going to our school. We were also able to raffle some beautiful goody baskets. Thank you to everyone that came out and enjoyed the sale and especially to those that donated items and time to make this wonderful event so successful.
