DESCRIPTION
The new Police Offices include a waiting area, offices, a conference room a secure suspect processing area, and a locker room area outfitted with daylight-harvesting fixtures and waterless and low-flow plumbing fixtures. The project was awarded a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). SustainableFeaturesPhotovoltaic(solar)panelsattachedtothetopoftheattachedparkingstructurewillhelpoffsetenergyneedsforboththePoliceStationandthenearbyAlliedHealthbuilding.Nearlytwothirds ofconstructionwastewasdivertedfromthelocallandfill,exceedingthe50%requirementintheDistrictsGreenBuildingPolicy.AsaparticipantinSanDiegoGas&ElectricsSustainableCommunitiesProgram,theprojectachieves significant energy savings Here are someachievessignificantenergysavings.Here aresomeexamples:
Thefacilityis12.9%betterthanCaliforniasTitle24codeforenergyefficiency Includingthephotovoltaicarray,theoffices are45%betterthanTitle24;orabout50%totalbuilding energy cost savings compared to standardbuildingenergycostsavingscomparedtostandard. Onsiterenewableenergyproductionwillaccountforaboutathirdofannualtotalbuildingenergycost.
