• The journey to BIM Level 2 is already well underway.
• Some people will say for PR purposes that they are already at BIM Level 3, this is not possible as the requirements have not yet been fully defined
• In fact until all the documentation and tools have been published it will not be possible to be 100% BIM Level 2 compliant.
• We hope this webinar will allow you to be understanding of the work to be done.

It is not enough however to just publish documentation, experience has shown they will be dispatched to the bookcase to be used for PR purposes only.
To overcome this the HMG Strategy is to request the use of the documentation and methods as a prequalification for Government Project by 2016.
Even this carrot is being ignored by a large number of companies and it has been left to the BIM operators (CAD operators)to put into place. A technological solution not people and process.

To further educate the industry and to show how the documents enhance business performance and profit a series of awarded certification seminars are being made available.
The ICE are providing a foundation course over a two day period.
Others offer accreditation based on past experience, the experience is not focused on the implementation of the 1192 family.

To enable the education providers a clear framework for the definition of Level 2 a Learning Outcome Framework is being developed and will be published in the near future,
This work is being overseen by the BSI and a definitive specification for education will be administered.
The LOF will also form part of the specification for UKAS certification next year.

The BRE are offering an exam based education programme towards certification in the use and implementation of the documentation.
This programme is being run in partnership with Avanti, which was the programme funded by the government to prove and measure the methodologies in BS1192:2007.
As such these courses are being presented by the very people that developed the processes in the first place.

BIM Level 2 will during 2015 pass into legacy,
This means that an owner needs to be chosen such that the industry will take ownership of the current processes and develops it further beyond 2016 and the Level 3 that is yet to be defined.
The BSI will still retain ownership of those documents and will provide the continuing plan for development into the future.

The B555 Committee and its members have been the guardians of the roadmap for the development of the Level 2 and 1192 series of standards. It is expected that this very experienced membership will continue to serve for a number of year yet.

To say the UK Level 2 is limited to the completion of UK and Government funded projects would be, as suggested by some, would be erroneous.
The contractor as Client is seen to be leading the adoption.
The UK is currently seen as providing leadership in the development of strategies and processes delivering Information Management can be seen in the award given to the UK from the US from Fiatech last year.
In Europe we can also see the adoption of the UK processes.

This year has also seen the adoption of the processes and methodologies from the Global arena.
The ISO Committee voted for the development of a new ISO, ISO19650, based on the 1192 documentation.
The need for such processes internationally are seen as an urgent requirement, not waiting for some of the PAS documents to become BS Codes of Practice

• Two committees have been formed to complete this work.
• The ISO Committee with its membership taken from the UK and the International committees.
• The UK Working Group (WG) who will guide the international representative to ensure that the ISO will support the UK requirements.
• These committees are well formed and have already held a number of meetings and produced a brief document.
• Work is expected to be complete within 18 months,
