What is genocide?
• Genocide means group killing in Latin.• The word “Genocide”was first used by
Raphael Lemkin, a polish, Jewish legal scholar.• I think the best example for genocide is the
annihilation of Jews, commited by Adolf Hitler.
When was the Jewish genocide?
• The Jewish genocide started before and continued during the World War II.
• It was also known as the “Holocaust”.• Hitler attacked the Jews with a group called
the Nazis.
Why did Hitler start the holocaust?
• Hitler thought that the German people were the superior race on earth.
• He wanted everyone to be German, especially blond and blue-eyed.
• So he started killing the Jews in Germany.• Then he couldn’t stop and caused the death of
six million Jews that lived in Europe.• One-half million gypsies and 250,000 mentally
or physcally disabled people were also killed.
How did Hitler start the holocaust?
• Hitler first gathered the Jews in camps that were told to be concentration camps.
• Then he told them to take a shower.• There he locked them up and gave them
poisonous gas.
In Conclusion…
• The holocaust event perfectly represents the meaning of the word genocide or «ethnic» cleansing.
• I wish something like this never happens again. Peace to all!
