• Please read all instructions before beginning.• When using the comb brush, practice fi rst. You will
use light wispy strokes to paint the fur.• You can mix a little water with paint to make it
fl ow easier.• When painting this design, after basecoating, you
will start in the back to paint details. Santa will be painted fi rst, because you have the animals with fur over the Santa beard and coat. See photo. Next, the pig or sheep. They are behind the cow. Paint the cow last.
PREPARATIONWood PrepSand and remove dust. Basecoat with Multi Purpose Sealer. Let dry. Lightly sand again for a smooth sur-face.
PAINTING INSTRUCTIONSBasecoat• Deep Midnight Blue: background• Country Red: hat and Santa’s coat• Mistletoe: mitten• Honey Brown: hat brim and cuff • Bleached Sand: mustache, beard, and sheep fur• Camel: banner• Med Flesh: Santa face and Pig• Cow: mix water with Black and wash in the cow
face and body. Let dry.

SantaShade hat and coat with Russet. Highlight with Coral Blush. Paint the x’s on hat with Bleached Sand and the squiggle lines on coat.
Shade face with Honey Brown, then with a little Coral Blush. Highlight the forehead with White. Shade in the eye areas with Coral Blush. Paint eyes with Black. High-light with White. Float the top of nose with White. Hair will be painted with White using your liner brush after the hat brim is fi nished.
Using the deerfoot stippler brush, load with Camel. Lightly stipple in the fur. Wipe out the brush and load with Bleached Sand. Repeat the stippling. Wipe out brush again, and load with White. Highlight the fur. Do the same on the cuff after mitten is fi nished.
Highlight the mitten with Bleached Sand.
Shade the beard and mustache with Honey Brown. Lightly stipple with White.

PigShade with Coral Blush. Paint the nostrils with Coral Blush.
Using the comb brush, mix a little water with Coral Blush and paint the fi rst layer of fur. Practice fi rst. The water will thin down the paint and it will fl ow easier.
Next, using a clean comb brush, load with Bleached Sand and repeat the fur. Paint cross hatching in nostrils with Bleached Sand. See photo.
Dot eyes with Black. Highlight with White.
SheepShade fur with Honey Brown. Stipple with White using the deerfoot brush. Dry brush the ears and face with Bleached Sand. Dot eyes with White and paint the details.
CowShade the muzzle and wash a little in each ear with Coral Blush. Shade the base of each ear, around the muzzle with Black. Add tiny dots to the top of muzzle.
Mix a little water with Black to thin. Load the comb brush, begin the stroke in the fur. Just use short strokes following the shape. Let dry.
Then do the same with White. See photo for white areas. Let the white go over the Black.
You can add more Black or White with your liner brush. Let the White come over the muzzle and around the edge. Fill in the area.
Paint the eyes with Black. Use your liner brush to outline the eyes with White. Pull out lashes with White. Highlight eyes with White.

BannerShade with Honey Brown. Highlight the top with Bleached Sand. Paint the letters and dot them with Black.
FINISHINGDip the fan brush into water, blot out excess water on paper towel. Dip into White and load the brush. Mixing the water left in the brush with the paint to thin it down a little.
Tap on the handle of another brush over the trash can fi rst to remove any blobs. Lightly tap over the orna-ment. Let dry.
Use the Soft Touch Varnish to seal the wood. Do sev-eral light coats. Letting varnish dry in between coats. Hand with your choice of hanger.
Line drawing may need to be adjusted to fi t wood.
