Merry Christmas & Happy New Year
I would like to wish all our members a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Over the last year we have walked the Scouting Trail together. Regardless of whether you are a Scout or Scouter, your commitment to the Scout Promise and Law is what makes Scouting Ireland the great movement it is.
I truly hope you and your families enjoy the holiday season and I very much look forward to meeting you back along the Scouting Trail in 2016.

Ref L36/2015: Chief Scouts Christmas Message to All Members of Scouting Ireland 15th December 2015 Fellow Scouts, As we approach the Christmas holidays it is a good time for us to reflect on everything that has happened in the last twelve months. Scouting Ireland has, notwithstanding some ups and downs, achieved some great things in 2015. The World Scout Jamboree, Operation Lelievlet, the approval of our new promise variation by our National Council (and then by the WOSM), more young people than ever taking part in Scouting activities, countless camps and activities across the country are only a few examples of the great things that have been happening in Scouting Ireland. Scouting is a big part of all our lives. We don’t’ join Scouts, we become Scouts. We all take the Scout Promise and do our best to follow the Scout Law. This is what differentiates us from other organisations. Christmas is a time for family and friends, so please, over the holidays, take the time to enjoy the things in life that really matter and take some time out to spend it with your loved ones, these people have an important place in our hearts and I hope that Christmas time creates many wonderful memories for you. As Scouts, we should remember the part of the Scout Promise, “to help other people”. This is the time of year when doing a good deed can really brighten up someone’s day. Not everyone in life shares the good fortune of having loved ones around and that can make holidays like Christmas difficult for them. I would ask that you be a caring neighbour and friend and look out for those who may find this time of year difficult and give a helping hand or a friendly smile and hello, it could mean a great deal. I would like to thank you and your families for all they do for Scouting during the year and I very much look forward to meeting as many of you as possible along the Scouting Trail in the New Year. I hope that all your wishes and dreams for the festive season come true. Have a wonderful Christmas and a great New Year. Yours in Scouting
