Christian believers devoted to the Holy Eucharist. We strive
to build God’s Kingdom by inviting all to faith formation, Sacred Liturgy, Evangelization
and outreach.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year December 24 and 31, 2017
SACRED HEART CATHOLIC SCHOOL Retirement of Mrs. Lucy Shawn Fellow parish members, our esteemed principal Lucy Shawn will retire at the end of the 2017-2018 school year. We appreciate her many years of service here at Sacred Heart School. We wish her all the best. The principal at St. Vincent de Paul School will retire at the end of the 2017-2018 school year as well. We will join with St. Vincent de Paul in the principal search process. The Department of Catholic Schools (at the archdiocese) will facilitate this process for a single prin-cipal to serve the communities of both Sacred Heart and St. Vincent de Paul Schools. We will have a team of seven parishioners including me helping with the pro-cess-we will begin meetings at the end of January. The data gathered by the strategic planning process recommends that smaller schools look for transforma-tive organizational structures that will better serve the vitality of the mission of their schools. St. Vincent de Paul shares this vision with Sacred Heart. We will work together to hire a visionary principal who will lead both schools into the future. This principal will be a collabo-rative, innovative leader, working to develop the faculty at both schools to embrace creative instructional prac-tices. This principal will develop a growth mindset, encouraging collaborative professional learning com-munities among the schools. Kindly thank Lucy for all she has offered to our school and pray for our school as we begin the search for new principal. Gratefully, Fr. Chrispine
FOURTH SUNDAY OF ADVENT December 24 2 Samuel 7:1-5, 8b-12, 14a, 16, Romans 16:25-27
Luke 1:26-38
Brief Reflection: Have faith in God’s promises. Sometimes, as children, we think that a special day, such as Christmas or a birthday, will never arrive, but it always does, eventually. The people of the Old Tes-tament were waiting for centuries for the coming of the Messiah to free them. Jesus did come, but it took a long time before he was accepted.
**Just a friendly reminder that any donations that you may wish to be recorded as tax deductible gifts to Sacred Herat-St Louis Parish for 2017 must be received in the parish office no later than December 31, 2017. **To cut down on postage costs, we are able to email your end of year donation tax statements. Please email Barbara at [email protected] to update your email and to receive an emailed copy of your state-ment. Please inform the office if you need a hard copy of your tax statement.

La gente del Antiguo Testamento estaba esperando durante siglos la venida del Mesías para liberar-los. Jesús vino, pero tardó mucho tiempo antes de ser acepta-do.

The Christmas Season is an especially hard time for women and men who are still carrying around the pain, loss, and guilt from past abortion experiences. Rachel's Vineyard Retreats for anyone who has been impacted by abortion heal hearts, spirits, and lives. "It was amazing and restorative - a safe beginning of healthy grieving & acknowledgement- initiating a begin-ning of the ability to move forward in other aspects of my life." May this holy season of fulfilled longing and hope through Our Savior lead you toward a life-change at a Rachel's Vineyard Retreat where mercy, compassion, and forgiveness bring Jesus' healing. Upcoming 2018 retreats: February 16-18 in Portland, April 27-29 in Med-ford. For more information and registration call Project Aurora at 541-942-2861, email [email protected], or visit www.project-aurora.org.
America's Deadly Silence! Abortion is the most common, least regulated medical procedure and the number one killer in America. More lives are lost each year through abortion than all deaths due to cancer, heart attacks, accidents, AIDS, natural disasters, wars, illness and diseases combined. The savagery of war, the atrocities of the Nazi holo-caust, graphic violence, natural disasters and critical and bloody medical procedures are routinely shown on the media. But never an abortion! Women are denied critical information on the risks of an abortion, including increased risk of Breast Cancer, Post Abortion Syndrome, the sale of body parts etc. The truth about abortion has been censored by the me-dia, silenced by our courts, politicized by our politicians and even silenced in our churches and schools. Babies in the womb have no voice except yours and mine. We cannot remain silent any longer! Pro-Life Articles Author
It’s Not Too Late to Make an End of Year Gift
It’s the end of the year, and if you are like many individuals, you are thinking about ways to offset your current taxable income. The good news is that it’s not too late to make a tax deductible charitable gift, providing you with valuable tax savings on this year’s return. Best of all, your generous gift will help benefit (parish/school name). Now is a great time to make your end of year gift! You might consider making an outright gift of cash, appreciated stock or real estate. If you desire life income, consider a charitable remainder trust or gift annuity. Please feel welcome to call the Archdiocese of Portland’s Office of Stewardship & Development with any questions about your year-end giving plans. They would be pleased to answer your questions, and discuss the options available with you and your advisors on a complimentary basis. You can contact them at 503-233- 8312, or email [email protected].
