GAS TREATMENTSYSTEM

Swedish technology compa-ny ETG, Emission Technolo-gy Group, has had approvalby the Dutch certificationorganisation RDW for itsEuro 5 system.

The system, which is forthe after treatment of exhaustgases from existing dieselengines, is now approved forthe requirements that willcome into force in the EU in2009.

The exhaust gas cleaningsystem can be fitted to dieselengines manufactured from1996 onwards. This means thatolder buses, lorries and con-struction machines can have anexhaust gas cleaning systemthat can satisfy the require-ments of the future, accordingto ETG.

“The fact that the systemhas now been certified is agreat success. It proves thatour system really works - thatwe can reduce emissions ofhydrocarbons, oxides of nitro-gen (NOx) and particles fromdiesel engines by more than 80%. We’re two steps ahead oftoday’s EU requirements,” saidKenneth Dahlqvist, exportmanager at ETG.

ITT ANNOUNCESACQUISITION OF

ELLIS K PHELPS

ITT Industries Inc hasacquired the business andassets of Ellis K. Phelps &Company (Phelps) of Apopka,Florida, USA.

According to ITT, Phelpsis the largest US distributor ofproducts sold under ITT’sFlygt brand for the wastewaterpumping and treatment market.

“This acquisition will pro-vide a foundation for supportand sales growth in ourUS$2.3billion global water

and wastewater business, andfirmly secure our position as apremier supplier of relatedproducts in the Florida-Geor-gia region,” said Robert Ayers,president of ITT Industries’Fluid Technology.

Phelps’ sales, service, andlocal monitoring and controlbusiness revolves primarilyaround ITT’s Flygt productsand complimentary equipmentused in water and wastewaterpumping and treatment solu-tions. The Phelps organisationhas 75 employees between itsmain location in Apopka andthree full service satellite facil-ities in West Palm Beach andFort Myers, Florida, andSavannah, Georgia, USA.

Terms of the transactionwere not disclosed.

LIFE CYCLE COSTPROGRAMME

INTRODUCED FORGAS TURBINES

Camfil Farr has developed anew Life Cycle Cost (LCC)programme, aimed at gasturbine filtration.

According to the company,the interactive software allowsa user to see how different fil-tration options affect the totallifecycle cost of ownership of agas turbine. Among the vari-ables calculated are: engineperformance characteristics,different environment, filterefficiency, pressure drop, filterdust holding capacity, price offilters, labour costs for filtermaintenance, filter disposalcosts, fuel prices, value ofengine output, cost of down-time for filter change outs andengine cleaning.

The LCC software can beused to optimise a filter systemfor specific gas turbines, asthese tend to differ in sensitivi-ty to fouling. In general, higherefficiency turbines may bemore sensitive to fouling. Anassessment of performance inrelation to the filter systemcould provide valuable inputinto the combination of

equipment selected, claims thecompany.

Two stormwater industryfirms, Stormwater Manage-ment, Inc and VortechnicsInc. have united to form anew company, Stormwa-ter360.

The new company identitywas launched at StormCon, theSurface Water Quality Confer-ence & Exposition in Orlando,Florida, USA.

In April, Stormwater Man-agement joined forces withVortechnics when it became awholly-owned subsidiary ofCONTECH ConstructionProducts Inc, a comprehensivecivil engineering site solutionsproduct and services companybased in Ohio, USA. With thelaunch of Stormwater360, thefirms continue the integrationof their operations, the compa-ny reports.
