Pune: Following its ‘Top of Pyramid’ product strategy for the Indian customer, Mercedes-Benz India

today launched the highly anticipated; ‘Intelligent Superpower’ the E 350 CDI at its Pune plant. The E

350 CDI is a benchmark product which combines striking design elements, energizing comfort,

exemplary safety with Intelligent Drive Systems, unparalleled handling and driving delight. The new E

350 CDI was launched for the Indian market by Eberhard Kern, Managing Director & CEO,

Mercedes-Benz India and Ralf Mungenast, Director, International Inbound Supply Chain,

Daimler AG. A comprehensively modernized new E 350 CDI features a powerful and efficient V6

diesel engine, Intelligent Assistance Systems, new design elements that add more dynamism and

sportiness to the most popular luxury sedan in its segment. The E-Class retains the dual distinction of

being the highest selling luxury sedan in India and also the highest selling product in Mercedes-Benz

India’s portfolio in India, with over 25,000 units on Indian roads.

Mr. Eberhard Kern, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India commented on the launch of

the new E 350 CDI, “The new E350 CDI is an ‘Intelligent Superpower’ that combines the numerous

driving a delightful experience. Rolled out of our state-of-art Pune Plant, the new E 350 CDI delivers

the highest benchmark in terms of quality, performance, safety and comfort. With its exciting design,

refined sportiness, and a powerful V6 diesel engine, the E 350 CDI is a much awaited product in our

successful luxury sedan portfolio, and we are very excited to launch this product. The E-Class remains

our highest selling luxury sedan in India and with the addition of the new E 350 CDI; we further

consolidate our lead in the E-Class portfolio as we offer our customers a feature rich, top-end luxury

sedan that exemplifies modern luxury at its best.”

Exterior: The new front-end design and the modifications are in line with the Mercedes-Benz’s all new

design philosophy that was introduced with the face-lifted E-Class. It summarises all the classical

design values of the brand by introducing appealing contours to make the car look distinguished. The

new E 350 CDI has a superior, refined and sporty appearance. Flowing light elements within the

headlamps ensures that the "four-eyed" look which is typical of the face-lifted E-Class, is retained.

The radiator with central Star, introduced for the first time with the face-lifted E-Class, lends an

independent and sportier front-end look. A new feature line runs below the structure from the rear

door through to the tail light. The new E 350 CDI looks more elongated and elegant, yet at the same

time both dynamic and composed. The face lifted E-Class’ horizontally structured LED tail lights with

new two-tone look emphasize the width, and with fibre optics create a characteristic night design. The

E 350 CDI’s 17-inch multi-spoke light-alloy wheels with a high-sheen finish appropriately showcase the

luxury sedan’s class and sportiness.

Intelligent Assistance Systems: The new E 350 CDI gives driving a whole new perspective with

Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Assistance Systems that comprises a host of technological innovations and

advancements that makes driving the new E 350 CDI exciting, convenient and enjoyable. The

Intelligent Assistance Systems comprises Eco Start-Stop function as standard and also a gamut of

features like the Intelligent Lighting Systems featuring variable light distribution with cornering

function, Adaptive high beam assist 360 degree camera, Attention Assist, COMAND Online and a tyre

pressure loss warning system.

Interiors: The new E 350 CDI comes with high quality appointments. The E 350 CDI features a new

interior trim line ‘High gloss black ash wood trim’ on the dashboard. The special treated ‘High gloss

black ash wood trim’ gives the new E 350 CDI a modern and stylish ambiance. A high-quality silver

chrome frame, the ambient lighting beneath the dashboard trim and the four door trim strips,

augments the mood inside the car altogether. The memory seats with lumbar support raise the comfort

level inside the car. The premium ARTICO leather lends to the high class quality of the upholstery. The

driver's seat and the front passenger’s seat have memory package and can also be electrically adjusted

for height, backrest angle and seat cushion angle. The COMAND Online multimedia system for the E

350 CDI with 17.8 cm high-resolution colour display, internet connectivity, USB and Bluetooth

connectivity, a storage space of 10 GB and navigation makes the car a compelling proposition for the

discerning customers. The COMAND Online has the most advanced telematics function and navigation,

covering a vast range of points of interests like gas stations, ATMs, hospitals, restaurants; hotels etc.

Safety: Safety has always been a priority for Mercedes-Benz which is very well established with the 8

airbags equipped in the new E 350 CDI. There are adaptive dual stage airbags for driver and front

passenger; Side impact air-bags for driver and front passenger and window airbags. Features like the

Acceleration Skid Control (ASR); Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with Brake Assist (BA) helps the

driver to have a total control of the vehicle on road. The E-Class comes with a host of famed Mercedes-

Benz optimized systems like the PRE-SAFE® technology and NECK PRO - crash responsive head

restraints for front seats provides an excellent comfort and safety. Also forming part of the standard

equipment is ATTENTION ASSIST, to warn drivers about inattentiveness and drowsiness. Belt

tensioner and belt force limiter for driver, front passenger and outboard rear seat passengers and three

stage impact protection front crash structure benchmarks the car’s safety enrichments. Intelligent

Light System comes with a variable light distribution with cornering function, that helps in adapting to

any road conditions during night driving, making the drive safer, and this is complemented by

Adaptive High Beam Assist with automatic switching between high and low beam.

Convenience: Other unique features included in the E 350 CDI are the panoramic sunroof giving an

unhindered view of the sky. The E 350 CDI boasts of the largest sunroof in the segment. The “Active

Parking Assist” system with integrated PARKTRONIC provides an unmatched convenience to the

driver. Equipped with 360 degree cameras the technology enables the driver with information for the

most suitable parking space. It is additionally equipped to help with active steering intervention,

creating a more reliable mechanism for better driving comfort. The E 350 CDI also comes with a full-

sized spare wheel which is best suited for the Indian road conditions and provides peace of mind,

especially on long drives. The E-Class’ 540 liters boot size is a benchmark in the segment even though

a full size spare wheel is offered as standard with the car.

Power & Torque: The new E 350 CDI is unrivalled in this segment with its variety and innovations.

The E 350 CDI diesel is equipped with a V6 engine with a displacement of 2987 CC which generates

best in class torque of 620Nm @1600-2400 rpm and a rated output of 195 kW @ 3800 rpm. The vehicle

attains the speed of 0-100 km/h in a mere 6.6 seconds.

E-Class Portfolio Enrichment: With the launch of E 350 CDI, Mercedes-Benz India is also now

offering the Panoramic Sunroof as standard in the E 200 and E 250 CDI. This reiterates Mercedes-Benz

India’s strategy of adding more value to customers and offering them feature rich products.

Prices: The new E 350 CDI is priced at Rs. 57.42 lakhs and is available across all Mercedes-Benz

showrooms across India.
