The purpose of this evening is to begin to prepare pupils and their families for this journey. In Years 10 and 11 pupils will follow one of three pathways of study; these pathways being Citius, Altius, Fortius. Each of these pathways contains a tailored suite of subjects that will be studied; each aims to provide your child with a broad and balanced curriculum that will prepare them well for further education, training or the workplace. As you know, pupils at the end of Year 8 began to make decisions about their educational journey and subjects studied, and as such, there are fewer choices to be made at this point in time. Our ultimate aim is to offer each child a timetable that will be stimulating, within their capabilities and provide them with the highest standards of education. We also aim to raise their aspirations and achievements and I hope that over the course of the next few years we will work together to make these things happen for your child. Your child will be following the Fortius pathway. Pupils in Fortius are required to take a combination of compulsory subjects, alongside 3 option choices. They will choose from a range of GCSE and BTEC qualifications. I am sure that you will take the opportunity this evening to talk to staff about the courses on offer and to ensure that you and child are as prepared as you can be for life in Upper School!
