Suede Suede is a leading fabrication for Spring 2016 menswear. Were seeing it largely in outerwear, with a focus on trucker jackets in a variety of brown hues as seen at ANDREA POMPILIO, CANALI, PORTS 1961 and BALLY. Neutral tones are also coming into play as seen at BOTTEGA VENETA and BRUNELLO CUCINELLI. A suede collared shirt was of interest at ETRO. This is a material designers will be playing with for seasons to come.

Blocking Pattern and fabric blocking was key on the Milan runway. JIL SANDER, ANTONIO MARRAS and VIVIENNE WESTWOOD showed print-blocked pockets. ICEBERG and BALLY emphasized paneling. MARC JACOBS updated a military jacket with colorblocked utility pockets and PORTS 1961 showed a paneled pattern as well as a colorblocked pocket. Blocking is a key novelty for menswear and designers will continue to elevate classic silhouettes by bringing in new fabrics and prints.

Southwestern Southwest styling is one of our major call-outs this season. With an interest in cowboy culture, we saw desert tones, abstract Aztec-inspired geometric prints at SALVATORE FERRAGAMO and a blocked western shirt at GUCCI. Neck scarves were key for accessories. Rustic brown hues at MISSONI, ICEBERG and PRADA proved that brown is back. The southwest trend is replacing the tribal trend.

Kiddie Kitsch Big name menswear brands are giving their collections a youthful and arty twist. GUCCI exhibited a butterfly knit sweater, MOSCHINO showed a head-to-toe gemstone pattern and SALVATORE FERRAGAMO showcased an exploded textual crewneck. With a focus on bright colors, shapes and symbols were seeing menswear taking on a lighter and less serious tone.
