PEOPLE

WHO IS WHO AT OUR SCHOOL?

Orban is our new caretaker. He worked here two years ago for a few months, but he started again this year in Febuary, so this is this third month.

Aniko Lukač has been teaching P.E. at our school for a year and a half but she is leaving at the end of the school year. She has been doing sports from the age of 4. First it was only dancing, but later she practiced swimming, too.

May 2015

She has always liked Geography, but it was her Geography teacher at secondary school who inspired her. Beside teaching, she is a make-up specialist, too, and that is her second job. So girls, next time you need a special make-up, you know who to turn to! Her hobby is dancing. She has been practicing Latin dances since she was six. She used to go to competitions, but now she does the choreographies for a dance club.

This is Renáta Pétervári, our new Geography teacher. As you can see she is very young (25), beautiful and always cheerful. She started teaching in September, so this is her first school year. She says that the other teachers at our school have been very helpful with her and that she fit in easily.

He takes care of the school, but it is most often fixing chairs and desks. He noticed that there are some children who respect his job, but most of them don’t. However, he says that he likes his job and the children as well as the other caretakers.

She thinks that most children are too lazy to do any sports and that is bad. She ialso teaches swimming in our town, so if you want to do something good for your health, find her at the swimming pool and join her group.

MEMORIES

In conversation with Erzsébet Benák

May 2015

Dorina Kéringer, from class 8B, interviewed Erzsebet Benak, the teacher of Hungarian language and literature at our school and asked her about her memories of this school.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A TEACHER?

Since 1981.

DID OUR SCHOOL LOOK THE SAME BACK THEN?

When I started working here in 1981, the school was half the size. In October that year they built a new building next to the new one and connected them. That was the last big change made on this building.

HOW MANY PUPILS WERE THERE IN ONE CLASS THOSE DAYS?

There were much more pupils than now, about 30 or more. There were about 500-600 pupils at the school at that time. However, the number of classes hasn’t changed since 1981. There have always been two Hungarian classes and one Serbian per year.

WHAT WAS THE DISCIPLINE LIKE IN THE PAST?

When I started working, students were much more obedient. Teacher had bigger authority and they were respected. There was a great cooperation between the pupils and the students.

WERE YOUR PUPILS MORE SUCCESSFUL THAN NOW?

My pupils have been winning competitions almost every year. The only difference is that in those days more children were motivated to take part.

WHAT PERIOD WILL STAY IN YOUR BEST MEMORY?

The times when my drama class was successful. In 1982 a few pupils of mine and I founded a drama group, ‘’Csiribiri’’. In 1984 we took the first place on the National drama competition and we did it again the following year. I am still very proud of that.

REVIEWS

In Hungary there is a very popular cooking show, called Gastroangel: Hungary is tasty. The presenter is Marcsi Borbás, who always has a guest star from Hungary. The show shows us many places in Hungary and Hungarian recipes. The recipes can also be found online: at www.gasztroangyal.hu.

I recommend this show to girls of my age, because we can learn to cook in a very simple way. I like this show a lot and I watch it every day at 9pm on Duna World.

The 39 Clues is a series of adventure novels written by a collaboration of authors. The series revolves around Amy and Dan Cahill. They are orphans who upon their grandmother’s death discover that their family, the Cahills , has been the most influential in the world. The main story is Amy and Dan’s quest to find the mysterious 39 clues. Each clue is an ingredient to a powerful serum that can make anyone rule the world.

Although there are too many books to read, I totally enjoyed them because they are filled with excitement and dangerous adventures. They are worth reading!

I’ve just seen Hotel Transylvania and it was really fantastic and very funny! It is an animated film directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, the creator of Dexter’s Laboratory. The film tells a story of Dracula and his daughter, the owners of Hotel Transylvania where the world’s monsters can take a rest from human civilization. However, one day the hotel’s guests learn that there is a human in the castle…

I recommend watching the trailer first to see how cool it is!

SNACKS

Dear Editors,

We don’t like the snacks we get at our school. They are not tasty and they are often rather dry, and because of that nobody wants to buy it anymore. It wouldn’t be a problem if it was more expensive but it should be good. We suggest changing the supplier.

GRADUATION PARTY

We would like to inform you that the students who are leaving us this year to go on to Secondary schools are going to have their graduation ceremony at 5pm on 3rd June. We’ll miss them and we wish them all the best.

GAMES FOR THE FINAL WEEK?

Hello,

I want to organise games for our final week at school, like the ones we have during Children’s week.

If you like the idea, contact me.

NEW VOLLEYBALL COURT OUTSIDE

Dear Editors,

We would like to play volleyball but we don’t have a proper court. Earlier there was a court but the new gym is being built over it. Now we play volleyball inside, in the small gym and this is very bad. We don’t have enough space, we always hit the ceiling and the walls with the ball. I think a new volleyball court could be built outside next to the old gym. What do you think?

SPORTS NEWS May 2015

He has been practicing kick-boxing for five years. He trains five times a week and has competitions every month in his age group (under 14). At the moment he is third in Vojvodina in K-1. He started kick-boxing because his mother enrolled him. At first he didn’t like it but now he enjoys it!

We are also proud of some our students who are really into sports and who might become well-known one day.

ARON KAROLJI (class 7C)

LUCIA PINTER (class 8B)She has been playing basketball since Year 5. ‘I’m tall and I’ve always been taller than everybody else and I also watched basketball on TV, so I wanted to try it”, she told us. She first played in our local team, but now she is the member of ‘Basket-Star’ from Novi Sad and she trains with ‘Vojvodina’ from Novi Sad. That means travelling to training in Novi Sad three times a week. Although she finds it a little tiring because she gets home about midnight, she always has time for studying, so she is an excellent student. When asked about her future plans, she said: ‘A coach called me from Hungary to play and study there, but I think it might be better to finish secondary school in my town.’

REKA BEZEG (class 6C)

She has been at our school for two years, but we all know a lot about her results in table tennis. She has been practicing it for five years and she is very successful. At the moment she is on the third position in Vojvodina in her age group (under 12) and fifth in Serbia.
