Your life story is an important part of your history. Every person has their own story to tell and all family stories are interesting.

Page 3: Memories Fade

Your stories of triumph and despair, of poverty and wealth, growing up, the places and times you have lived

in, your work and your family history are all an important part of the legacy

you can pass on to your family.

Page 4: Memories Fade

As anyone who has embarked on a family history project will tell you, discovering the stories along the way

bring their family to life and makes researching family history so worthwhile. Along this journey many discover the life stories of their family; stories of

parents, grandparents, great grandparents, aunts and uncles that help them connect more with their

family and where they came from.

Memories FadeSadly, as we get older, some memories do fade and

it is important to preserve your life story

In fitness it is even more important as we need to

My StoryThere are three major events in my life that brought me to being the coach

and gym owner that I am today.....

#1 It was the summer before my freshman year in high school. It was the first time in my life that I took an active approach to lose weight.

Growing up I was always active and played many sports but I was always overweight.

I told my mom that I wanted to lose weight before I started high school. Soon after work one day she surprised me with an Gazelle Walking Machine, made famous by Tony Little,

you remember the dude with the huge quads and awesome pony tail on those infomercials. I told myself that after

dinner every night I would burn 900 calories. I’m not quite sure where I came up with that number but I stuck to it.

My little brother must have hated me at the time because we shared bedrooms and that Gazelle barely

fit between our two beds and it was alway out. This is how I lost 20lbs and learned how to set

goals and stick to them.

At that time I also wanted to play freshman football. The Naples High Football team has always held weight

training for incoming freshman and current football players as an opportunity to train in the summer. My friend Joey’s mom

would pick us up for training every morning. Before then I had never knew what weight training was. There was

something about training with the upperclassmen that made me want to be better. I love the feeling of improvement

and challenging myself. It was there where I learned about the importance of a well rounded strength and

conditioning program and how to challenge myself to want to be better.

After football season was over my best friend told me to join the wrestling team. I wasn’t sure what to think but I wanted to

stay active after the great time I had playing football. The transition to wrestling couldn’t have been better. I was a natural.

Wrestling four years in highschool I was able to place at thestate tournament. I had many ups and downs as a wrestler but something that I learned that I’ve never forgotten is to “finish what I start”. My head coach always reminded me of this when I wanted to quit after a big loss or a difficult time making weight. Wrestling taught me to remain

disciplined and focused at the task at hand. Quitting wasn’t an option.

As a coach and gym owner my philosophy for my clients is the same. I know they have the potential

to achieve great things. If they can set goals, follow a fitness program and remain disciplined and focused

on those goals. They can achieve great things.

It is my life goal to bring it out in them as others did for me.
