Denmark has one of the longest coastlines in the world (by some definitions the longest of all), and it has one of the longest traditions for building ships. We still pro-duce both ships and every thinkable item – big or small – on board the ships. The future use of the seas will present an increasing demand for new ships and cut-ting-edge maritime know-how – a know-how that we have developed and pushed for continuously, ever since the Vikings set sail on their sophisticated purpose built ships, reaching a level where Denmark today is home to a maritime industry which represents some of the best available technology worldwide.

The Danish maritime industry is a strong, innovative and global industry unremittingly developing its productsand competences. The maritime industry is a stronghold for Denmark where cooperation and dialogue is a basic pa-rameter leading to new research, development and in-novation. The Danish maritime industry is an important part of the Blue Denmark, employing 45.000 people (i.e. 2.4% of the total workforce) in Denmark; to which one can add all the people working in subsidiaries outside Denmark. The cooperation within The Blue Denmark, which totals 110.000 employees, is important, and the maritime industry is not only a strong but a key partner in Denmark, where any maritime, ocean and sea related business is a part of the Danish DNA.

Danish Maritime is the country’s only trade and employ-ers’ association working for the Danish maritime indus-try. Its members count all major shipyards, both new-building and repair yards, the wide range of maritime manufacturers and suppliers, the ship design houses and the many maritime service providers. The aim of the association is to create the best framework condi-tions for the maritime industry in Denmark and for Dan-ish maritime businesses outside Denmark. It follows that Danish Maritime also is actively invested in pushing growth possibilities through a better national and inter-national framework.

The association is therefore active globally, initiating and participating in work nationally, in Europe and the rest of the world for improving the possibilities for mari-time businesses.

Danish Maritime is one of the founding partners of the Danish Maritime Days, the Danish Maritime Fo-rum and the Danish Maritime Technology Conference, which aims to increase the international knowledge about the excellent know-how of The Blue Denmark. Danish Maritime is an invested member of the European shipbuilding and maritime equipment association, SEA Europe. It works for improving the framework for the Eu-ropean maritime businesses, establishing cooperation across borders and the creation of a global level playing field. Other international fora to which Danish Maritime also contribute are the OECD working group regarding shipbuilding and several working groups of the Interna-tional Maritime Organisation, IMO.

In sum, Danish Maritime on all levels works for the crea-tion of framework conditions, both locally and interna-tionally, which will contribute to an international level playing field by having international regulations and well-appointed enforcement measures in place, be-cause thereby we will secure a continously competitive and sustainable maritime industry.

Jenny N. Braat

Managing Director, Danish Maritime

You work with what nature gives you. As a small island nation with a long coastline, maritime pursuits have al-ways been important to Denmark.

From the primitive Stone Age dugouts of Denmark’s first inhabitants, the complex designs of the Viking ships represented a quantum leap forward, opening the world up and turning an apparent barrier into a way of exploring the world.

This long Danish tradition of shipbuilding led to the es-tablishment of Skibsværftsforeningen (Association of Danish Shipbuilders) in 1919, subsequently to become Danish Maritime in 2003, and that later gathered not just the shipbuilders but also maritime equipment and product manufacturers and service providers, as well as ship and equipment designers.

Danish Maritime acts as a knowledge pool, deliver-ing the latest information on the maritime sector to our members, public authorities and the media. We aim to create alliances and increase the cooperation between yards and shipowners, both in Denmark and worldwide.

We believe that remaining close to the customer en-courages innovation and fosters the development of competitive products and services, despite the cyclic nature of the maritime business and the peaks and troughs it experiences.

In the coming years, all the signs are that the market will focus on safety, green solutions and operative effi-ciency, both in terms of retrofitting existing vessels and the building of new ships. New possibilities are also arising in the Arctic, something Denmark will especially be aware of.

The future promises to be interesting!

At Danfoss IXA we develop and supply sensors for energy and environmental optimization within the maritime industry.

Our Dynamic Ventilation System enables 10-15% energy savings on container vessels with reefers below deck. The unique Dynamic Ventilation System automatically adjusts the cargo hold ventila-tion to minimize the combined energy consumption from reefers below deck and the cargo hold fans. The system ensures sufficient ventilation to avoid high cargo hold temperatures resulting in overheating reefers and cross contamination between cargos. The solution is already implemented by some of the largest shipping operators in the world. The solution is used for new builds as well as for retrofit vessels.

Our Marine Emission Sensors are based on proprietary and state- of-the art technologies, which make fast in-situ measurement of emission gasses (e.g. CO2 and NO2) in extremely aggressive environments with very high temperatures and severe vibrational and shock impacts. The measurements can be used for monitor-ing and optimization of the combustion processes.

Daspos A/S

Gammel Klausdalsbrovej 495 2730 Herlev

+45 44 32 77 [email protected]

DASPOS was founded in 2010 by Torben Jørgensen and Lars Gerner who have brought the product from concept level to the market. LAS-10 has been tested and validated by The Danish Technological Institute aboard the worlds’ largest container ves-sels. LAS-10 was launched in 2011 and has since safeguarded a number of very large ships.

The system/product idea has received awards by The Danish Min-istry of Business Affair and is supported by The Danish Maritime Fund.

LAS-10 helps to secure the open engine room against the risk of fire caused by oil sprays and gases. Unlike traditional prod-ucts, which passively detect fires after they have started, LAS-10 actively detects fires before they occur. It protects the open engine room against oil spills and spray gases from the oil being led to the engine or from hydraulic pumps.

LAS-10 is for shipowners, liner companies, shipyards, ship design-ers as well as oil rigs and producers of wind mills, who all can benefit from the fire prevention LAS-10 provides.

With its innovative intelligence, Adaptive Logic Programming Tech-nology (ALPT), Inrotech has caused a small sensation in the world of robot welders. The intelligence of the welding robot makes it capable of ‘reading’ its task and performing it simultaneously. It runs smoothly without the need of interference in the shape of engineering back-up or interface with CAD applications.

The seeds of this product were sown at the Odense Steel Ship-yard in 2007-2008, and the maritime field therefore has become the core business of Inrotech. The product has already been sold and successfully implemented in several leading shipyards glob-ally. The key features of the Inrotech welding robot are

• the in-house developed touch panel which makes the Inro-tech robot highly intuitive and easy to operate even without prior theoretical training.

• the unique Adaptive Logic Programming Technology (ALPT) which allows the Inrotech robot to be self-programming once the initial project phase and tests have been done.

• that the he Inrotech robot is mobile and flexible.

• Very high longivety under extreme conditions (sea/humidity, salt, heat, wind etc.)

• Burns 100.000+ hours vs. 25-30.000 hours for other sources – no down-time

• Very energy- and output efficient

• No frequency; stable light provide comfortable working environment

• The light optimizes growth as it equals natural out-door light

• Provide owners with a significantly improved P&L due to longevity and low energy consumption

We provide individual, bespoke projects according to our custom-ers’ needs. No standard solutions available.
