This toolkit has been created to provide AAPPR members content that can be used to announce and promote how AAPPR is redefining recruitment to retention. As possible, we encourage members to customize and use this content in your organization’s communications (newsletter, web site, etc.) as well as in your own professional communications (consider key copy points, identifying yourself as a member of AAPPR by using the new brand in your email signature, social media, etc.).

The key elements of the toolkit include talking points and key benefits about the changes.

In today’s world, social media plays a key role in an organization’s brand and connecting with it’s members. Use AAPPR social media channels and social posts to identify yourself as an AAPPR member and what the organization and you are doing to redefine recruitment to retention. AAPPR’s board of directors and staff initiated a thorough, strategic process of current programs, resources, membership, marketing, partnerships, and Association’s brand and story over the past 18 months.

The purpose of this re-branding initiative is to better position the Association, and its members, as the most credible source and experienced in recruiting physicians to health care organizations and raise member visibility among core stakeholders including those inside their organizations, such as the C-Suite, and outside of their organizations, including physician and provider candidates.

This effort of redefining the Association, and in fact, the entire recruitment to retention process, comes with the benefit of a remarkable 30-year history of the Association that was created by a handful of members who envisioned the value of bringing like minds together to develop best practices in physician recruitment. Of course, the health care industry has changed dramatically during the past 30 years; it’s time the Association looked ahead on behalf of its members and their organizations and redefine recruitment to retention.

Virtually every aspect of the Association is being redefined – from membership criteria, resources, marketing to raise visibility, programs – and of course, the Association’s brand and story. To that end, the new brand for the Association is one that represents members and other influencers in the health care sector, both individuals and the collective body, who are working toward moving their profession forward – advancing their work to become recognized as the leading voice on behalf of physicians and providers and the communities they represent.

AAPPR is the right name: it includes a reason for the work of its members – advancing the role of those directly involved in the recruitment to retention continuum or those that influence it. It is inclusive of the broader scope of responsibilities of the Association’s members, responsibilities for recruiting and retaining a wide array of physicians and providers; it is the right name because it acknowledges recruitment as a strategic process, not merely a function. The new brand is more professional in its visual and verbal identity – both important to help elevate the work of its member to key stakeholders.

AAPPR members work at the organization they recruit for and, as part of the culture, understand how to recruit the most qualified candidates who fit.

AAPPR members recruit physicians and providers with an understanding of need that goes well beyond filling a position ― and have most likely been a participant in the organization’s strategic planning process, which gives them better insights as to not just the “who” that is needed but the “why” the position is needed.

AAPPR members have a great deal at stake personally as they live in the same communities as their organizations ― the same communities where the very physicians and providers they recruit are responsible for meeting the health care needs of their own families, neighbors and friends. The work of AAPPR members has a direct impact on their personal reputation as well as the reputation of their organization in the community.

Introducing the Association for Advancing Physician and Provider Recruitment

After a year-long disciplined and strategic process that included input from hundreds of members, partners and other stakeholders, the Association for Advancing Physician and Provider Recruitment, or AAPPR, has been introduced as the new name for ASPR, the Association of Staff Physician Recruiters. The announcement was made by AAPPR’s board leadership recently. (YOUR NAME, TITLE) is a member of AAPPR and applies the education, resources and engagement with AAPPR’s nearly 2,000 members to (YOUR ORGANIZATION NAME) daily.

The new brand is just one part of the Association’s evolution:

Redefining recruitment to retention

AAPPR members bring a unique perspective to the recruitment process as they are working in the organization and in the community where the organization provides services. While a member’s role is to recruit, onboard and retain physicians and providers, these efforts from AAPPR members contribute to much more – including helping increase revenue and brand visibility for their organization while enhancing their organization’s reputation in the community they serve.

Membership Expansion

Supporting the new brand, logo and positioning for the Association, redefining recruitment to retention also includes a focus to expand membership to anyone who influences the recruitment to retention activities of physicians and providers and is employed by a health care provider.

Alignment with stakeholders

Another key aspect of the new branding efforts is the reshaping and structure of the statewide and specific industry groups. The new structure creates affiliate groups and shared interest groups that connect members within geographic regions or with similar interests, responsibilities, and challenges.

Raising the voice of members

Yet another key element of the new brand features AAPPR’s expanded strategic communications efforts – efforts that will support current members, help attract new members and create a stronger, more visible and consistent voice for AAPPR. AAPPR has launched a new website featuring the new branding and many new resources.
