SPECIALIST TROPHY HUNTSAnywhere in South Africa – Clients requesting to hunt for trophies that will rank very high in the record books and trophies that are known to be of limited availability. Usually trophies like this require a lot of time and travelling to locate. Therefore the prices for hunts like this can only be quoted upon request.

GENERAL INFORMATION: Planning and booking your safariBest time of the yearHunting is available throughout the year for both rifl e and bow hunters. For Bow hunters, the dark moon phases of June, July, August and September are the best time. March to October with mid. winter in June-July is the best time of the year to hunt.
Hunt durationChoose a package hunt or tailor makes a safari to suit your needs.Generally hunts are 7 to 10 days for plains game and 10 to 21 days for Big Five animals.
PLAINSGAME HUNTING AREASKALAHARI AREA - North West Province: This area borders Botswana to the North and hosts Lion, Cheetah, Leopard, small cats and many plainsgame species on its vast open savannah plains.GREAT MARICO AREA - North West Province: This area is four hours drive from the Kalahari base camp and hosts Leopard, Cheetah, small cats and many plainsgame species on its rocky landscape.EASTERN CAPE AREA - Eastern Cape Province: This area borders the Atlantic ocean on the South African coastline. This area is 12 hours drive from the Kalahari hunting area. Habitat specifi c species like the Blue Duiker, Oribi, Cape Grysbok and Cape Bushbuck will be found in this area. LOWVELD AREA: This area is situated along the western border of the Kruger National Park and hosts all of the Big Five and many plainsgame species. The Big Five hunts in this area are outfi tted and guided by an associate outfi tter of Molopo Kalahari Safaris, this outfi tter has extensive experience with the Big Five. Bookings are done through Molopo Kalahari Safaris.NAMIBIA: Molopo Kalahari Safaris also conduct Leopard and Plainsgame hunts in Namibia. Booking a safariContact or e-mail Rudolf Graupner or a representative of Molopo Kalahari Safaris to discus your hunt preferences and dates available for your safari. Once you’re hunting safari has been confi rmed with the required deposit of 50% on your daily rates and package hunts, you will be furnished with the relevant documentation to fi nalize your African hunting experience. When you have booked a safari you will be allocated a quota of your preferred game animals and a Professional Hunter.

Book your fl ight to arrive at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. Please consult with us for connecting fl ights, air charter or road transport to and from your fi nal destination. Due to delayed fl ights and the risk of delayed or temporarily lost baggage, we suggest that you sleep over on the day of your arrival. We can suggest very good and affordable accommodation.

Arms & AmmunitionPlease discuss your rifl es of preference with us beforehand. For plainsgame we suggest 30-06 or bigger caliber with minimum bullet weight of 180gr. The minimum caliber required for Big Five animals is .375HH with 300gr bullets.Molopo Kalahari Safaris can also provide fi rearms at a rental of US $100 per hunt, excluding the cost of ammunition.We suggest you zero your gun at 100 yards before departing for South Africa. The gun will be shot again before it is used for hunting.

Yourself as a client Step 1: Proof of ownership-Customs 4457 (US citizens) Register every fi re-arm you want to bring with your local customs offi ce to show that you are the legal owner of the fi re-arm. For US citizens the customs 4457 form can be obtained at any customs offi ce at the larger airports.Step2: SAPS 520 Get a SAPS 520 form for the applications of a temporarily importation permit. Molopo Kalahari Safaris will send you this form or you can download it from the PHASA website.([email protected])Step3: Complete SAPS 520 Complete the SAPS 520 form in black ink only and, do not sign it until you arrive at the customs offi ce at OR Tambo International airport in Johannesburg.Step4: Invitation letter Molopo Kalahari Safaris will send you an Invitation letter which has to accompany your SAPS 520 form.Step5: Proof of export from country of origin For US citizens the customs 4457 form also act as a proof of export.Step6: Other documentation needed • Valid passport • Return Airline ticket

Other licenses & permitsYou may need to obtain a CITIES export and import permit for certain species. Molopo Kalahari Safaris will inform you and assist you in obtaining the necessary permits.
ImmunizationThe Molopo Kalahari Safaris base camp is situated in Malaria free area. If your travels will take you into a Malaria area we will inform you. Please consult your medical practitioner if you do come to a Malaria area and about vaccinations for other diseases in other areas. We advise that you get vaccinations for Hepatitis A, Polio and Typhoid. Please make sure your medical insurance is in place.
Insurance, risk and lossAlthough hunting is a potentially dangerous sport, we take utmost care at all times to ensure your safety. We encourage you to ensure that your personal insurance is up to date and that you have in place appropriate travel- and fi re-arm insurance before your departure. Molopo Kalahari Safaris and its personnel will not be held responsible or liable for any losses or damage to equipment, injuries, fatalities or illnesses sustained by clients before, during or after the agreed safari date.
TERMS OF BUSINESS• In order to confi rm bookings, 50% of the total package price and 50% on the daily rate of non-package hunts is required. The balance and trophy fees are payable after the hunt.• Hunting charges become effective on the fi rst day of the hunt and end on the date agreed.• Prices are subject to change without further notice.• Payments can be made in cash, traveler’s cheques and money transfers.• Cancellations made 60 days prior to commencement of the hunt will qualify for a 50% refund of the deposit.• Rescheduling of a hunt within 60 days of commencement will have an extra US$300 administration fee.• Daily rates are subject to 14% government tax.• Clients will be charged for animals taken or wounded and lost.
