Melissa Farber is an Associate in the Firm’s Insurance and Reinsurance Services group. Melissa concentrates her practice in the areas of insurance and complex litigation matters in New Jersey and New York state and federal courts. Melissa has several years of experience representing insurance companies, international shippers, and business owners in complex commercial disputes and insurance coverage matters. She has been involved in all aspects of litigation including the drafting of pleadings, motions, discovery demands, and appeals, as well as attending depositions and court proceedings. Melissa has participated in the briefing for several appeals in federal court involving personal and advertising injury claims sounding in intellectual property, fraud, conspiracy, misappropriation of trade secrets, and breach of fiduciary duties. She has also managed federal court maritime cases arising from damaged cargo valued at millions of dollars. In 2004, Ms. Farber served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Nancy Sivilli, Superior Court of New Jersey. REV.COMM. 64 (2016): The Commentary explores theinsurance implications of the NFL concussion litigation. Specifically, it highlights how dispositive choiceof law determinations will be to the outcome of the litigation, as jurisdictions apply competing theoriesof policy interpretation, including when coverage is triggered, the duty to defend, and other policyexclusions.
