Kyle surprised Melanie with a proposal at the Four Seasons Hotel Toronto in May of 2013. After enjoying a luxurious day in the hotel spa to celebrate Melanie’s birthday, the couple retreated to a candlelit suite where Kyle proposed. The staff at the hotel were aware of Kyle’s proposal plans—the general manager arrived with cake and champagne to toast the pair. “The entire spa knew what was going down! There I was posing for photos in a bathrobe and a bun on top of my head with the most beautiful ring on my finger,” remembers Melanie.

p l a n n i n g Melanie and Kyle were married on July 12, 2014 at Copper Creek in Kleinburg, Ontario.

Melissa Samborski of One Fine Day Event Planning + Design was chosen to plan and design the summer wedding. Melissa worked with the couple to create an unforgettable event infused with understated elegance and fun.

e l e g a n t s t a t i o n e r y Kevin LeFleche of Paper Ideas designed custom stationery for the event including the elegant invitation and fan-shaped programs that allowed guests to cool off during the ceremony.

s t y l e n o t e s Melanie wore a Jenny Packham gown with custom, vintage-inspired details purchased through Powder.

“The back and sleeves were custom-designed to differentiate it from the designer’s ‘Mimosa’ gown. The lace was produced in France and the beading was completed in Dubai before being shipped back to London for Jenny Packham’s approval,” shares Melanie.

Gilmarc Jewellers designed the couple’s wedding bands and Melanie’s diamond engagement ring that was engraved with Kyle’s favourite saying, “Stuck With Me.”

Bridesmaids wore floor-length, Amsale dresses in blush pink from White Toronto. The floral for the day was designed by Amy Saleh of Pink Twig. Melanie carried a lush, oversized bouquet comprised of peonies in barely-there shades of pink. Bridesmaids held hand-tied bouquets of roses.

s p i r i t u a l c e r e m o n y Melanie and Kyle were married outdoors on the grounds of Copper Creek. The couple had a spiritual ceremony that integrated various elements of their family's religious traditions (Melanie’s parents are Jewish and Catholic and Kyle’s are Protestant).

The couple exchanged vows under a custom canopy that was draped in white fabric and decorated with mounds of hydrangeas, roses, and orchids in soft shades of white and pink. A crystal chandelier hung beautifully in the centre of the structure. Flowers were tucked in the ivy-covered rock wall adjacent to the ceremony area for an added dose of romance. Guests sat on gold Chiavari chairs from Detailz Chair Couture. The white aisle carpet was from Reznick Carpets.

u n d e r s t a t e d e l e g a n c e Melissa Samborski of One Fine Day Event Planning + Design and Amy Saleh of Pink Twig collaborated on the design of the reception, which took place in the ballroom at Copper Creek.

The room was draped in white fabric by Enzo Mercuri Designs, and tables were covered in pale pink table linens from Around The Table. A mix of low and tall floral arrangements filled with blush pink and ivory blooms adorned each table. The low arrangements were housed in glamorous gold boxes, and the tall

arrangements were placed in glass vases that made the flowers appear as though they were floating on air. “We really wanted the room to feel light and uplifting, the florals did exactly that,” notes Melanie. Tables were also topped with candles in crystal holders, gold-rimmed glassware from Chair-man Mills, and glittery gold table numbers from Party Stakes.

The couple’s head table was set amongst a backdrop of crystal chandeliers and candles placed in hanging crystal holders.

In the evening, the band Sensation performed and a DJ from Veriation Music had everyone on the dance floor. Dance Floor Décor installed a custom-designed dance floor that incorporated a lace-inspired motif from the wedding stationery.

Melanie and Kyle were hoisted up on chairs for the hora (the traditional circle dance of Israel) as a nod to the bride’s Jewish ancestry. “Dancing to the hora with all of our loved ones was truly surreal. Kyle and I both describe it as an out-of-body experience, we couldn’t believe the love and energy in the room,” recalls Melanie.

Cloud Nine Creative Inc. was on hand to film the entire day and produced a Same-Day-Edit that was screened for guests at the reception. “The video was easily our guests favourite part of the night, everyone has mentioned it to us,” Melanie says.

Melanie and Kyle tell us they would change absolutely nothing about the day. “The entire wedding felt like a fairytale. Hearing our guests tell us that our wedding was romantic, elegant, and fun is more than I could have ever dreamed,” shares Melanie.

The couple followed their wedding with a luxurious European honeymoon. They first traveled to Paris where they stayed at the Saint James Albany hotel and then visited Taormina—a chic resort town on the island of Sicily. They ended their holiday in London where they enjoyed the city sights and shopping on Bond Street.

s w e e t r o o m Melissa Samborski of One Fine Day Event Planning + Design designed a whole experience area around the couple’s love for all things sweet. “Kyle and I both have such a sweet tooth and desserts are our favourite thing, so we wanted to ensure we gave everyone a little piece of our heart by providing an awesome sweet table experience,” says Melanie. The “Sweet Room” featured desserts that were hand-selected by the couple along with pitchers of iced raspberry lemonade.
