Nothing can match the productivity of a Mega Coal Hauler in applications compatible with off-highway tractor-trailer arrangements. Mega MCH Coal Haulers are designed for use with off-highway trucks converted into tow tractors by the addition of Mega hitch, deck and fender assemblies and modification of chassis hydraulic, electrical, braking and in some cases, computer control systems. Mega is able to provide all of the necessary components and engineering to make the tractor conversion based on OEM standards. Mega engineers design the trailer and chassis systems to match the loading tools and material densities found in your application. Mega Coal Haulers are designed to comply with OEM tire and tractor axle load limits and meet applicable ROPS, emergency steering, and braking performance criteria.

Mega maximizes the use of OEM content in the design of the trailer-hose assemblies, suspension and brake system components, and wheel groups are typically the same as those found on the tractor. Mega Coal Haulers for combination with Caterpillar® off–highway trucks can be provided with the correct truck chassis in one complete package. Mega is able to offer these machines complete with the appropriate ISO testing and certification through Caterpillar® dealers worldwide.

Designed on the same principal as the Mega Coal Hauler, Mega MBD Bottom Dump Trailers are designed for use with materials with greater density and higher abrasive properties. The MBD utilizes the same hitch, deck, and fender system as well as the hydraulic, braking and control systems of the MCH.

Mega trailer products including the MBD, MET and MCH can be found in the Caterpillar® FPC mining application software. Certain models of MBD and MCH are designed for use with the Caterpillar® payload measuring system as well. IMPROVED PERFORMANCE FROM A RELIABLE DESIGN

The Mega Equipment Trailer is a gooseneck-style trailer custom designed to fit each application. MET's are available in both detachable goosneck (MET-DG) and rear load (MET-RL) configurations. The simple rugged design includes hitch, deck, fender, and trailing axle components matched to the trailer. Mega Equipment Trailers and hitch systems are designed to work with tow tractors based on OEM off-highway truck chassis.

MET's can be custom designed to fit the dozers, drills, excavators, shovels, and other heavy equipment found in mines and large earthmoving projects. Using an MET avoids or reduces expensive undercarriage maintenance that results from repositioning these types of machines. Mega Equipment Trailers are designed within the tire and tractor axle load limits and meet applicable OEM ROPS, emergency steering, and braking performance criteria.

The Mega Elevating Scraper is 34 cubic yard capacity machine based on the original Caterpillar® design. Mega manufactures the bowl and elevator system based on the original 633D, under license from Caterpillar®, and combines this system with a new Caterpillar® 631G auger scraper-spec wheel tractor. The result is a durable machine with modern cab and controls using a powertrain that meets today's emissions requirements. The high-powered MES34 offers productivity improvements of over 20% compared to the original designs upon which it is based.

The Mega MES34 is available exclusively through Caterpillar® dealers worldwide and meets all applicable safety and performance criteria.

Mega offers a wide range of MFT Fuel Tanks, MFL Fuel and Lube Platforms, and MLT Mega Lube Truck for rigid frame and articulated trucks. Mega's fuel and lube products are based on our successful water tanks and feature the same construction including mounting systems, materials, and baffling.

Each MFT, MFL and MLT are custom designed for a specific application and engineered to maintain the proper axle loading and weight distribution on the truck chassis.

The Mega Mobile Pump is used to rapidly fill water distribution equipment from ponds and canals, especially in remote areas where there is no other source of supply for water. The rugged and trouble-free MMP is easy to transport and can be set up by one person.

A diesel engine-driven hydraulic motor supplies power to the axial flow water pump, intake and discharge lifting cylinders, and all controls. With flows of up to 15,141 liters/ 4,000 gpm, the MMP can fill a 18,927 liters/5,000 gallon tank in less than two minutes.

The Mega Portable Tank is a 45,424 liters/ 12,000 gallon platform or "stand" tank designed for towing with a fifth-wheel on-highway tractor. The Mega MPT is used to rapidly fill water distribution equipment to maximize the productivity of your operation. Mega MPT's are self-raising, using an engine-driven hydraulic pump and hoist cylinders. Mega MPT's have a 12 inch diameter discharge pipe that can deliver up to 9,463 liters/ 2,500 gpm–capable of filling a 18,927 liter/5,000 gallon tank in approximately 2 minutes.

The MPT is designed to comply with DOT requirements and are available in custom colors and with special signage. Mega MPT's are available with side-discharge and remote control dump valve options. Mega also offers its stand tanks in a variety of sizes of up to 75,708 liters/20,000 gallons or more for stationary applications.

Demand for increased water use efficiency has led Mega to design a robust, simple to operate system capable of putting just the right amount of water down to meet the task at hand. Mega has taken our articulated off-highway truck water tank design and adapted it for use with on-highway trucks. Mega works with virtually every chassis manufacturer to combine our tank and spray system durability with the customer’s choice of truck for 7,570 liters/2,000 gallons and up.

Mega MOH on-highway products use many of the same spray system components as their off-highway counterparts ensuring excellent parts availability and product support. Many of the same accessories found on the off-highway Mega water tanks are available for on-highway applications including water cannons, swivel spray heads, front bumper spray, and many other features.

Mega can manufacture custom haulage accessories for just about any size or type of rigid or articulated off-highway truck chassis. An excellent example is the Mega MCC Container Carrier – a custom accessory for Caterpillar 735/740 articulated trucks designed to transport and dump ISO refuse containers (or anything on the same footprint).

The Mega Anti-Surge Stabilization System (MASS) tank baffling design begins with a heavy duty spine that supports the rear pivot mounting. Line boring the rear pivot mounts ensures accurate direct pin installation of the tank. Heavy high strength steel in critical areas ensure long failure-free life of the tank. Proper loading of the chassis frame provides load stability, good machine handling, and long frame life of the chassis.

Front spring- type tie down mounts and sturdy adjustable body pads ensure that the chassis is properly loaded and balanced. HOW MEGA CAN HELP YOU OPTIMIZE YOURWATER DISTRIBUTION APPLICATIONS

Over-watering HazardsOver watering of mine haul roads has been the subject of increased study by mine planning and safety. Many mines have improved their efficiency, lowered resource and equipment maintenance costs, and improved the safety of their working conditions by employing water conservation practices.

SafetySafety is the most important factor to consider. Over watering of roadways decreases tire traction (skid resistance), increases brake time, destabilizes fill slopes, and hastens erosion, all of which place the haulage truck operators at a much higher risk for potentially fatal or traumatic haulage accidents. In wet road conditions, haulage trucks cannot stop as quickly as on dry roads, and forceful application of brakes can easily result in the truck skidding out of control and colliding with safety berms. Additionally, standing water can soften road bases, potentially leading to washouts and collapsing of fill sections and slopes.

Water WasteWater conservation is extremely important, particularly in drier climates where water is already a scarce and precious resource. Many governments have implemented strict regulations concerning water usage, and require mines to develop and adhere to a water conservation plan. These areas include (but are not limited to) South Africa (through the Department of Water Affairs), California (through the California Department of Conservation), Texas (through the Texas Administrative Code Title 30, Chapter 288), and most regions and cities in Australia.

Labor and ResourcesIt has already been mentioned that over watering degrades road quality. In order to maintain over watered,eroding haul roads, the roads must be serviced and repaired more frequently, at the cost of resources and man-hours. The heavier a water truck’s spray is, the quicker its tank is emptied. This is perhaps the most obvious consequence of over watering. When using too much water, water trucks are required to return to water fill stations more often, wasting both fuel and man-hours as well as subjecting the over-watered roads to heavier traffic.

Tire WearA haul road in good, safe condition will have a compacted top layer of fine, cushioning particles protecting tires from the larger, coarse, sharp rocks below. Over-watering erodes away this protective top layer, subjecting tires to severe wear by the exposed coarse rocks. Not only is this costly in terms of tire replacement, but also in terms of production rates and man-hours—a grader must resurface the road in order to repair it, and the road cannot be used by haul trucks during this time.

The DiSCS® System- Flexible, Smart, Rugged

There is a growing demand for precise application of water spray for dust suppression in surface mining and construction applications to promote water conservation and operator safety. To address these issues Mega has designed the DiSCS® - Digital Spray Control System.

DiSCS® utilizes CAN Bus* technology to operate the spray control system controlling the water pump, water spray, and water valving actuation. When combined with our GPS sensor, DiSCS® provides a method to automatically regulate the amount of water spray applied relative to vehicle ground speed or distance traveled.

The DiSCS® compact switchpad is based on CAN Bus* protocol and is water and dust resistant. Switchpad LED lights, in RGB colors, light up with the many different watering patterns and controls.

GPS-Based Sensing

DiSCS® uses GPS data to determine ground speed. The GPS system is universal, there is no special application-specific engineering required and the system is not vulnerable to contamination like radar-based systems.

Self-Contained DiSCS® does not require connections to other vehicle systems to determine speed. Because it is self-contained, it is easy to adapt to a wide variety of machine applications.

Automatic Water Consumption Reduction The DiSCS® system utilizes a pulsing strategy, to automatically limit the amount of water consumed, based on vehicle speed while maintaining road dust control coverage. Utilizing the PWM strategy avoids the addition of complex and costly variable flow hydraulic systems and the resulting impact on machine reliability. Multiple application choices are available-continuous water layer, checker boarding and operator selectable.

Automatic Shut-off

The DiSCS® system automatically shuts off the flow of water as the vehicle comes to a stop to prevent puddling. Spraying automatically resumes as the machine begins to move again.

The DiSCS® GPS-Global Positioning System works with existing Mega spray system hardware which includes water pump, hydraulic motor, spray heads, and DiSCS® electro-hydraulic controls. A self-contained GPS unit is used to determine ground speed.

Direct Pin Mounting with Line-Bored Holes

Mega tanks pin directly to the rear pivot mounts of the truck chassis. Line boring the rear pivot mounts ensures accurate direct pin installation of the tank. Mega tanks do not require welding to the frame and new pivot pins and shims are supplied with the tank.

M.A.S.T.Mega Anti-Surge Stabilization Tube Baffling System

The Mega MAST tank baffling design redirects the energy of surging water to create a super strong and stable tank. The center baffling tube is the heart of the tank and reinforces both the front and rear bulkheads as well as both transverse baffles.

Flexible Front Mounting

The truck chassis is allowed to flex beneath the spring type front mounting tie downs. No welding is required to install these mounts.

Exterior Enamel Paint

All Mega tanks are fully abrasive blasted prior to application of anti-corrosive prime paint then top coated with customer choice of one color. Tank color is most often matched to the prime mover color. Note: Custom coatings and graphics are available upon request.

Mega Spray Head Valves

Mega developed and patented its spray heads in 1976 and has continually improved them since. Each Genuine Mega spray head is fully adjustable for fan volume, width, and direction. Precision water application is a simple matter of proper selection of spray head settings and the number of spray heads activated. Standard Mega spray head valves are constructed of a high-quality aluminum alloy metal and we also offer stainless steel models. Our spray head valves are available in both pneumatic and hydraulic actuated models.

Mega Cab Control

The in-cab spray control module provides independent control of each spray head, water valve, and accessory of the Mega water tank. Included in the cab control module is an LED type water level gauge. Our control module is built for rugged use in the harshest environments of mining and construction.

Electro-Hydraulic Spray Control System

For the most demanding mining and construction environments we provide the Mega hydraulic spray control system. The cab control module operates our Mega proprietary hydraulic solenoid spray control module that individually actuates all spray head valves and water valves. The spray control system operates independently from the water pump drive circuit. The solenoid module is housed in a weather tight steel housing. Mega fully supports these systems with spare parts and our full time Mega Product Support.

Mega Hydraulic Spray Heads

The Mega hydraulic spray head valve utilizes a custom-made, high quality, heavy-duty, double-acting hydraulic cylinder to open and close the valve portion of the spray head. This spray head is suitable for any heavy equipment prime mover, and requires a hydraulic spray control system.

Mega Pneumatic Spray Heads

Air pressure produced by the prime mover's pneumatic system opens and closes the pneumatic spray head valves. Air pressure forced into the valve closes the spray head. Release of air pressure from the top spray head cavity allows the valve to open. This spray head is suitable for any heavy equipment prime mover with a pneumatic system, and requires a pneumatic spray control system.

Mega Offers Complete Stainless Steel Spray Heads

Our complete stainless steel spray heads are best suited to resist corrosion and abrasion by the harsh waters often found in mining and construction environments. Stainless steel’s resistance to corrosion, durability along with low maintenance make Mega stainless steel spray heads the ideal spray head for you. Note: This is an optional feature.

Mega Spray Heads Are FULLY Adjustable!All Mega spray heads are adjustable and can be fine tuned to provide the optimal water distribution for a specific application. This allows for high efficiency, reduced water consumption, and prevention of roadway over watering.

Water Level Gauges

There are two electronic water level gauges, one in the cab control module inside the cab and the other on the solenoid control module mounted on the tank for easy viewing while filling.

Mega Water Pumps

The heart of the Mega spray system is the water pump. The water pump is powered by the vehicle's hydraulic system. Mega spray controls ensure proper integration with the chassis’ hydraulic system and ECM. Oil is returned into the truck oil filtration and cooling system.

The Mega M-3 series heavy-duty water pump features a direct bolt-on hydraulic motor mount and steel splined coupling to simplify drive motor connection. Heavy-duty shaft and dual bearing design provide long life and high water output for superior spray pattern and water cannon performance.

The Mega M-4 series high performance water pump also features direct bolt-on hydraulic motor mount and steel splined coupling to simplify drive motor connection. The M-4 pumps are available in both standard cast iron as well as corrosion-resistant models with stainless steel waterways and fully stainless steel.

Rear Spray Bar With 3 or 4 Spray Heads

The rear spray bar is designed to fully utilize the capability of the water pump and features 3 to 4 Genuine Mega Spray head valves. The rear spray bar is constructed of 102 mm (4 inch) diameter pipe and covers the entire width of the rear of the tank. The standard rear spray bar is constructed of regular carbon steel pipe. Note: Optional stainless steel spray bars and spray heads are available with our corrosion resistant package.

Mega M-3 Water Pump Series

The Mega M-3 series water pump is a cost effective open centrifugal water pump suitable for water tanker applications where up to 3 spray heads will be operated simultaneously. The low horse-power draw of this pump is well-suited for on-highway type tankers as well as for small articulated tractor type water tankers where available space is limited.

Mega Spray Heads

Standard Mega spray head valves are constructed of a high-quality aluminum alloy metal. We offer optional stainless steel models to better resist corrosion and abrasion of harsh waters often found in mining environments.

Mega M-4 Water Pump Series

The M-4 series water pump is a clockwise-rotation centrifugal pump with a 6 inch inlet, 4 inch outlet, and maximum speed of 2,400 RPM. Inlet and outlet connections are flanged to provide a solid, leak-proof mount to the tank plumbing. The heavy-duty stress-relieved cast iron frame and volute case provide solid mounting to the tank.

Oil to Air Heat Exchanger

Mega MAC for articulated truck tanks include a hydraulic oil cooler to prevent overheating during extended water pump operation. This eliminates the risk of hydraulic system contamination which is associated with competitive systems that utilize oil-to-water heat exchangers.

Fall Protection Tie-Off Points

Multiple D-ring style fall protection tie-off points welded to top of tank. Note: Some water tanks offer this as an optional feature.

Access Ports and Anti-Skid Walkway

The standard fill port is 914 mm (36 inch) diameter and located on the top center line of the tank. A steel tread grip walkway extends from the access ladder on the front bulkhead to the fill port. Note: Supplemental access ports with bolt on lids are available as optional equipment and are included on our tanks of 113,550 liters (30,000 gallons) and larger.

Mud Flaps

Mud flaps fore and aft of rear drive tires are standard equipment on Mega tanks.

LED Lighting and Utility Lights

All clearance, stop, and tail lighting on Mega tanks are LED for long life and low maintenance. Two work lights are mounted on the rear bulkhead of the tank beneath water shedders. The lights are controlled by switches in the cab control.

Ladder and Hand Rails All Mega tanks include an access ladder to the top of the tank. Our standard ladder features tread grip rungs for a sure footed grip and hand rails at the top of the ladder for ease of access to the top of the tank. Note: Optional customized safety railing is available upon request to meet your exact requirements.

Fill Port with Safety Grate and Anti-Skid Walkway

A bolt-in trash screen safety grate is included in the main fill port Note: Conical shaped fill ports, custom locations, and custom design fill ports are available as optional equipment.

Hydraulic drive motors provide the highest durability and very smooth travel. Our water cannon solenoid control module is dependable and easily serviced. Adding an adjustable nozzle is as easy as connecting the nozzle and control lines.

Adjustable Fog-Stream and/or Fan-Stream Nozzle

Adjustable nozzle allows for variable fog and fan patterns. Note: This option requires the purchase of the Mega Water Cannon.

Factory Installation

Mega offers complete factory installation for some models (size dependent) of articulated truck tanks for both customer-supplied and Mega-supplied chassis. Factory installation includes complete testing prior to delivery. Note: Size restrictions apply.

Stainless Steel Spray Head

The Mega stainless steel hydraulic spray head is optimized for use in the most severe environments. The stainless steel hydraulic spray head shares the same design as the Mega aluminum hydraulic spray head, with the exception that all metallic parts that come into contact with water during use are stainless steel. Mega spray head valves are fully adjustable for fan width, volume, and direction. When combined with swivels on the spray bar, fan direction can be adjusted in two axis. Mega spray heads provide a consistent flat fan

Mega Water Cannons

Mega’s water cannons are designed and built to perform in the most severe environments of mining and construction. Capable of the water pressures and flows required for the mobile water equipment industry. Mega’s water cannons are ideal for fire suppression, high pressure equipment washing, and most applications that require long-distance, concentrated spray.

We offer Specialty Nozzles

Mega’s hydraulic water cannons can be fitted with a variety of adjustable nozzles to customize the spray pattern and distance. In addition to the standard straight bore nozzle, Mega offers fan to stream, fog to stream with foam eduction, and fog to stream nozzles. Mega Foam Eduction System

The Fire Suppression System is an air-aspirated foam eduction system compatible with any class of foam that can be nozzle-aspirated*. The system consists of a stainless steel (304 grade) foam concentrate tank, water cannon, and foam eduction nozzle. Our medium-expansion nozzles allow for adjustable foam percentages of 1%, 3%, 6%, and 10%, and possible flow rates of 350, 500, and 750 GPM.

The Mega foam tank is mounted externally on the water tank, and is available in a 227 liter/60 gallon, 454 liter/120 gallon and 757 liter/200 gallon size. Mega’s foam system can be ordered as an optional on a new Mega water tank, or purchased as a kit and installed on an existing water tank.

Rock Ejectors

Properly located brackets and ejector bars to eject rocks stuck between the rear dual tires.

Vertical Side Spray

Two spray head valves are mounted on the front quadrant of the tank for spraying vertical fans of water.

Hoist Compatibility

Hoist compatibility allows the tank to be raised for service access to the drive train and hydraulic components. Mega will provide upper hoist cylinder pins. Some options, such as hose reel, suction loading, etc. may require removal to raise tank to full hoist cylinder extension.

Front Bumper Spray

The front bumper spray is commonly utilized to “sweep” a surface with high pressure fans of water. Spray heads are mounted to spray from both sides of the tractor. The spray heads are fully adjustable for vertical and horizontal directions. The location of the spray bar allows the cab hood to fully tilt and open for engine service.

Dump Bar

A dump bar (sometimes called a “drip” or “dribble bar”) is a horizontally arranged 102 mm (4 in.) diameter steel pipe that is drilled along its bottom center line with rows of holes. The dump bar can be either pressurized or non-pressurized. Pressurized dump bars spray penetrating jets of water directly onto the ground surface the width of the tank. Non-pressurized dump bars are gravity fed directly from the bottom of the water tank.

Manual Drain Valve

The quick dump option is a large drain located at the bottom rear of the tank. This option is available in manual actuation in 101mm (4 in).

Remote Drain Valve

The quick dump option is a large drain located at the bottom rear of the tank. This option is available in hydraulic actuation in 101mm (4 in).

Magnesium Anodes

Magnesium anodes mounted in tank to help minimize corrosion.

Fall Protection Tie-off Points

Optional custom fall protection tie-off points are available and quoted upon request. Standard on some models.

Access Ports

Access ports provide additional access to the interior of the tank beyond the standard access provided through the fill port. This provides multiple points of ingress/egress to internal tank compartments. The number of additional access ports available vary depending upon tank size.

Anti-Siphon Fill Pipe

This filling option is suitable for use with municipal water supply (fire hydrant) as well as any other pressurized fill line, there is a butterfly valve installed at inlet.

Battery Box Relocation

Relocation of the batteries provides access on non-hoistable tanks. Only applicable to CAT773G and CAT775G models.

Conical Fill

The Mega conical fill port is funnel shaped from a 1524 mm (60 in) diameter to 914 mm (36 in) diameter standing 610 mm (24 in) tall. This allows for easier location of the water fill pipe sock over the main fill port of the tank.

Warranty Coverage For Your EquipmentProtecting your investment

Mega warrants its products against defects in material and workmanship for a period of twelve months from the time the unit is first placed into service unless otherwise stated below.

Mega does not warrant malfunctions and failures resulting from misuse, negligence, alteration, accident, or lack of performing scheduled maintenance services. Nor does it include the replacement of maintenance items made in connection with normal wear items. In addition, travel mileage, travel labor, or related travel expenses (such as meals or lodging) will not be covered.

Mega requires the customer/owner to complete the In-Service report and return it to Mega within 30 (thirty) days from the date the machine is placed into service. In addition, In-Service must begin no later than 1 year from the invoice date of the machine unless otherwise stated in the sales contract.

This warranty becomes null and void when the product is disassembled, welded-upon, or in any way materially altered without prior written approval from Mega. Items replaced under this warranty become the property of Mega. All items replaced must be returned to Mega, freight pre-paid, by the customer unless otherwise agreed upon by both parties.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Mega Responsibilities

If a defect in material or workmanship is found during the warranty period, Mega will:

• Provide (at Mega’s discretion) new, remanufactured, Mega-approved repaired parts or assembled components needed to correct the defect.

• Reimburse costs for reasonable and customary labor hours needed to correct the defect.

WARRANTY CLAIM PROCEDURE

Warranty Repair and Warranty Claim–All repairs during warranty period must be made with Mega approval to maintain warranty coverage. Contact Mega Product Support for repair procedures and approval. Warranty claims must be filed and received by Mega within 90 days of the failure/incident to be considered for compensation. Reference Mega warranty claim procedure. Invoices submitted for parts and labor will not be considered for warranty coverage.

Parts Return–Parts may only be returned for warranty credit or replacement with prior approval from Mega via a Return Material Authorization (RMA). Contact Mega for RMA number and instructions. All returned parts are subject to evaluation prior to credit approval.Payment of Claims–Payment of all warranty claims and parts returns are made by credit to the customer account.

Limitations of Warranty–Warranty will be void or limited under the following conditions:

• Cracking in weld or base metal of structure caused by damage or abuse.

• In-Service report not returned to Mega at time of product commissioning.

• Unauthorized repairs adjustments or modifications to structures, controls, or spray system during warranty period.

• Any use or installation that Mega judges improper.

• Attachment of accessory items and parts not sold by Mega.

• User’s delay in making the product available for inspection or modification after being notified of a potential problem.

• Failure to return parts as described on Return Material Authorization (RMA).

This warranty is expressly in lieu of any other warranties, express or implied, including any warranty of merchant-ability or fitness for a particular purpose. Remedies under this warranty are limited to the provision of material and services, as specified herein. Mega is not responsible for incidental or consequential damages.
