INTRODUCTION MEG was established in 1993, as a small department in local Israeli company. MEG’s team, consisting of top Israeli experts in the fields of RF, mechanical design and manufacturing technologies, gained over the years an enormous experience in the development, design, production and testing of microwave passive components, antennas and integrated sub—systems.

MEG Ltd. is an independent company focusing on one and only purpose:

WAVEGUIDE PRODUCTS

RIGID WAVEGUIDE SECTIONS

Rigid waveguide sections include Rectangular, Double Ridge and Circular Waveguides. These sections can be manufactured from Aluminum or Copper, and fitted with flanges according to customers demand (to the list of standard flanges to various waveguides please refer to table 1-3). General specifications:

o Frequency Limitations: From 0.5 MHz up to 40 GHz. o Rectangular Waveguides: WR-28 thru WR-650 o Double Ridge Waveguides: WRD180 thru WRD350 o Circular Waveguides: Waveguide diameter available per request o Pressurized models available on request (including vacuum leak tests).

The straight sections are manufactured to fulfill the requirements of both laboratory and field waveguide run installations. The maximum deliverable standard length is 12 Feet, other lengths are available on request. The insertion loss is equivalent to the standard waveguide raw material the section is fabricated from.

Twisted Sections

The Waveguide Twisted Sections are precision formed components with applications mainly in waveguide runs where installation problems impose polarization plane changing. The insertion loss of the twisted section is basically the same as of the equivalent straight waveguide section. Custom sizes, configurations and combinations are available on request.

MEG’s waveguide transition series are designed to connect components of different waveguide size and type in minimum space while maintaining a VSWR of 1.15 maximum in the overlap frequency bands. Additional waveguide sizes and custom designs are available upon request.

In MEG Ltd., we are all dedicated to fit customer’s special needs. With over 30 years of experience, we can solve your most complex waveguide lines problems, and over the years we’ve completed dozens of projects with custom waveguide run installations. Maintaining low insertion loss, similar to straight section, and relatively low VSWR, you can be sure that your custom design will not affect the electrical parameters.

Flexible Waveguide Sections

Flexible waveguide sections include Rectangular, Double Ridge and Elliptic Waveguides. These sections can be manufactured from Be-Cu or Brass, and fitted with flanges according to customers demand (to the list of standard flanges to various waveguides please refer to table xxx). General specifications:

o Frequency Limitations: From 0.5 MHz up to 40 GHz. o Waveguide Types: Flexible (one direction bending), Flexible Twist (2-D bending) o Rectangular Waveguides: WR-28 thru WR-650 o Double Ridge Waveguides: WRD180 thru WRD350 o Elliptic Waveguides: Waveguide sizes available per request

THE MOST COMMON problem with flexible waveguides is the fracture appearing in the connection between the flange and the waveguide. This failure is very common especially on long flexible sections, mainly in laboratories, when the waveguide is folded over and over again.

MEG HAS FOUND THE SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM. With specially designed flanges, the risk of such a failure is reduced to minimum – that’s why MEG’s flexible waveguides are working for years without the need of replacement.

MEG offers high quality, precision machined terminations in five main categories:

• Low Power Loads, • Medium Power Loads, • High Power Loads, • Precision Loads, • Mismatch Loads

These components can be fitted with flanges according to customers demand (to the list of standard flanges to various waveguides please refer to table 1-3). The exact size and shape can be customized to fit your exact needs in the lab or outside applications, including extremely hot climate conditions. General specifications:

Standard Termination The waveguide load series are designed for low, medium and high power applications where low is VSWR is required. These products are precision machined in order to achieve good heat transfer and dissipation. The iron loaded ceramic internal load element provides excellent VSWR over the whole waveguide band. Integrated power sampling probe can also be supplied on request. Coupling values between -30 and -60 dB can be provided with frequency sensitivity less than + 1 dB over the whole waveguide band.

Magic Tee

These isolated four-port Power Dividers (covering the waveguide sizes WRD-350 thru WRD-650) are designed for applications such as TWT Amplifiers, Redundant Transmitters and Antenna Beam Forming Networks. The VSWR is maintained at 1.3 nominal (1.5 maximum) while the power split is controlled within +0.3 dB. Isolation is optimized to 25 dB minimum E to H ports and 15 dB minimum between collinear arms.

Radial Power Dividers

MEG’s radial combiners and dividers combine or divide in a “single step”, maintaining losses to minimum. The design is air-dielectric and purely reactive, those avoiding heat sinking, associated losses, topology interferences, and other problems. These dividers are precisely manufactured, and their simple and rugged design is well-suited for harsh environments and field maintaining.

MEG’s combiners and dividers can be used on complicated amplifier systems, when there’s a chance for failure of one or more amplifier modules while operation continuity is critical.

Power Samplers MEG Series of Power Samplers consist of a capacitive probe coupled to the waveguide. Since these signal samplers have zero directivity they should be used only for power monitoring in well matched lines. The coupling between the waveguide and coaxial line can be adjusted to any value in the range of -30 dB to -60 dB. The frequency sensitivity of the coupling is + 0.5 dB over the whole waveguide band.

Dual Polarization (Quad Ridged) Broadband Horn Antennas

The MDPH Series Dual Polarized Horns cover octave and multi-octave frequency bands, providing simultaneous vertical and horizontal polarization. By attaching a 90° Coaxial Hybrid these horns can provide RH or LH circular polarization as well. The MDPH Series Horns are designed for high gain parabolic reflector feeding, but they are well suited as primary radiator antennas for many applications. The precision fabricated internal Quad-ridged construction provides high isolation between the orthogonal input ports.
