31st Plenary Meeting of ISO/TC 113 'Hydrometry'

Dear member,

I am glad to announce that the next meeting of ISO/TC113 together with its

subcommittees and working groups is being convened from: Sunday, October 8, 2017 to Friday,

October 13 2017.

Climate and clothing

Noida has an extreme climate. It is very hot in summer (April - July) and cold in winter

(December - January). The average temperature can vary from 25°C to 45°C during the

summer and 22°C to 5°C during the winter. In summer adequate precautions need to be

taken, to avoid the intense heat, such as wearing light cotton clothing, wearing a hat or

sunshade while going outdoors and drinking plenty of liquids. In winter, wearing warm or

woolen clothing will protect you from the cold. Light clothes are best for everyday wear.

The average temperature in Noida can vary from 21°C to 35°C during the month of October

* Some shopping centers close one day a week, varies from place to place.

Malls are usually open 7 days a week until 21:00.

All major credit cards are accepted in hotels, restaurants and shops.

Currency/exchange

The Indian currency is Rupee (INR). Notes are issued in following denominations: 2000,

500, 100, 50, 20, 10 and 5. The approximate conversion, for information purpose, of INR

is as follows:

1 USD = 68 INR (USD TO INR CONVERTER)

1 EUR = 71 INR (EURO TO INR CONVERTER)

Electricity supply

Electricity Supply in India is at 230 Volts, 50Hz. You may kindly carry a voltage adapter if

you are carrying a device that does not accept 230 Volts, 50 Hz.

Internet Connection

There will be Wi-Fi internet access for all the delegates inside the meeting hall.

Language

Though Hindi is the official language of India, English is widely spoken. Signs, however, are

often written in both the languages

Meal facilities

Noida has a number of good multi cuisine restaurants.

Smoking

In India, smoking is prohibited in public buildings and other places open to public. This also

includes offices, public transportation, hotels, bars, restaurants and all other

establishments where food and beverage are served. You must be 18 years old or more to

buy tobacco and tobacco products in India.

Taxes

A Value Added Tax (VAT) is added on most products in India. All taxes are included in the

price indicated on the product. Service Tax is added on most services in India.

All landline telephone numbers in Noida consist of eight digits, and there are area codes.

(The area code for Noida is 0120). In case of emergency, the Police can be contacted through

number 100 and ambulance through 101. The mobile number are of 10 digits

For calling to India, the international telephone access code is + 91 (city code)(number).

For calling from India, the outgoing code from India is 00(country code)(city

code)(number).

Time zone

The time zone for India is Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) + 5½ hour. This difference

remains throughout the year.

VISA RELATED INFORMATION

The foreign participants should submit online application for Visa at

www.indianvisaonline.gov.in immediately. Indian Missions abroad are authorized to issue

Conference Visa to delegates on production of an invitation letter from BIS (Organizer) a

copy of the letter from Ministry of Home Affairs (enclosed) and a copy of the

communication from the Ministry of External Affairs conveying political clearance

(enclosed).

Visa for participants from 1) Afghanistan 2) Iraq 3) Pakistan 4) Sudan

5)Foreigners of Pakistan origin and 6)Stateless persons can be issued only after MHA

Clearance. Therefore online application for visa must be made at least 60 days in

advance. Simultaneously, information about the participants from these countries

should also be made available to Foreigners Division, Ministry of Home Affairs in the

format given below:
