The draft scientific opinion on the risk to plant health of Arabis mosaic virus, Raspberry ringspot virus, Strawberry latent ringspot virus and Tomato black ring virus for the EU territory was reviewed and further updated. The conclusions of both the assessment and the risk reduction options sections were revisited, discussed and finalised in order for the draft opinion to be circulated to the Plant Health Panel for possible adoption at the September Plenary meeting.

The participants reviewed and updated the risk assessment and its conclusions of the draft scientific opinion on the risk to plant health of Arabis mosaic virus, Raspberry ringspot virus, Strawberry latent ringspot virus and Tomato black ring virus for the EU territory, based on the information received during the technical hearing with experts of the strawberry and raspberry industry that was held on 22 May 2013. The first draft of the risk reduction options section was also reviewed and further developed.

The participants started discussing the evaluation of the existing legislation. Tasks were distributed concerning the development and evaluation of different risk reduction options.

Preliminary conclusions of the risk assessment were discussed and formulated.

2. Adoption of agenda

The agenda was adopted without changes.

3. Declarations of interest

In accordance with EFSA’s Policy on Independence and Scientific Decision-Making Processes1 and the Decision of the Executive Director implementing this Policy regarding Declarations of Interests2, EFSA screened the Annual Declaration of interest and the Specific Declaration of interest) filled in by the experts invited for the present meeting. The participants discussed and further developed the pest categorisation section of the draft scientific opinion on the risk to plant health of Arabis mosaic virus, Raspberry ringspot virus, Strawberry latent ringspot virus and Tomato black ring virus for the EU territory. Pathways of entry were identified and discussed. The relevant legislation was reviewed. Meeting dates were agreed for the whole mandate.

The participants discussed the Terms of Reference of the mandate and the scope of the scientific opinion on the risk to plant health of Arabis mosaic virus, Raspberry ringspot virus, Strawberry latent ringspot virus and Tomato black ring virus for the EU territory. A preliminary work plan was outlined and agreed. Details on the conduct of literature search and data collection were discussed.
