    May Demo: Keith Artz

Keith came to the art world later in life after

having had two previous careers. It is now his

passion , my therapy and my joy. When I first

started in 2003, I painted pretty things; still

life, flowers, and idyllic landscapes. Being a

realistic style painter he feels he did well with

scu subjects. He has slowly made a transition

from pretty to some disturbing social issues.

He still paints realistically, but now he feels

his artwork has a higher purpose. The intent

on my current Homelessness series is to get

my viewers to look at the homeless people and

their issues. Too often we do not even make

eye-to-eye contact. His work will hopefully

have two purposes; 1) That viewers of his art

will appreciate more, the human beings living

on the street and their inhumane existence. 2)

It will raise money for homeless issues.

His presentation to PGA will consist of a pro-

fessional quality, slide show entitled “From

Pretty to Disturbing in Three Laps of the

Pool”: The Transition of an Artist. It will fo-

cus on the creative thinking and planning that

goes into a series of large, three-dimensional,

cause the individual works are too large to

transport I will have several of their parts with

me to give you the scale at which he has been

    working.

Keith was born in Nebraska to parents who

encouraged his creative talents. He learned

furniture making from his dad and a love of

needlework from his mother. Keith is a signa-
