Indicators (Students will…): Students will learn about dangerous people on the Internet. Activity Statements: Students watch "Meet the WizzyWigs" and are introduced to possible dangers on the Internet in the form of characters named the WizzyWigs. Materials: Computer lab or computer connected to an LCD projector or television monitor “Meet The WizzyWigs” from the “NetSmartz Rules!” program WizzyWig pictures “Internet Safety Pledge” handout Large and small pieces of paper Glue and markers Procedures & Discussion: 1. Introduce the group to the WizzyWigs by explaining that these animated characters represent some of the dangerous types of people using the Internet. Using a computer and a projector, or individual computers, have the students watch “Meet The WizzyWigs” and try to identify the dangerous behaviors the WizzyWigs practice. After the show, you may wish to quickly review the WizzyWigs. Hand out a copy of the “Internet Safety Pledge” to each student. 2. Tell the students that they have 15 minutes to make “Wanted” posters of one of the WizzyWigs. Break the students into five groups, and assign each group a WizzyWig. Assign the members of the group roles, such as scribe, artist, rap/song writer, and performer. Have the students Draw a picture of the WizzyWig to paste onto the poster. • Identify which Internet safety tip from the pledge will help combat the

WizzyWig. They can copy down the tip in large writing and paste it onto the

poster.

• Write a rap, song, or poem that describes the WizzyWig, the danger it

represents, and the Internet safety tip to remember.

To save time, have the students work simultaneously on their various poster

pieces and glue their papers onto the large piece of paper when finished.

3. Have each group present the poster and rap/song/poem to the class.
