MEET THE TEAMS APRIL -MAY 2013 Name: Mark Winchcombe Position in the club: Head Coach of Development Centre Favouritefootballteam: The mighty Liverpool FC Favourite pro footballer: Present - StevieGerrard.... Past - ChrisWaddle Best Sporting memory: Playing at Ewood Park (Blackburn Rovers FC) in an Under 16 District Cup final for Berkshire v's Lancashire. We lost 2-1 after our striker scored an own goal in the last minute of injury time but an amazing experience. Any other hobbies: Spending time with family & various sports Favourite PJFC moment: Watching my son's Under 9's team last season in their Cup 1/4 Final against Thatcham (who went on to win the cup) play their hearts out & give their all against a very strong side. We were by far the better team on the day but unfortunately still came out on the losing side 2-1. The attitude & commitment of the team on that day was spot on & it was fantastic to see how far they had all come on from when they first started playing at the Development Centre a few years before. Most likely to be seen / heard: Im the quiet one so my dad Pip who helps me with the Development Centre. The group Clown can always been seen & heard over the other side of Reading each Sunday morning. He gives me a headache each week but the kids love him so I shouldnt complain. Funniest thing seen on a football pitch: The Everton team OR when i was playing kids football my mate being chased around the whole pitch by a little Jack Russell. My mate was petrified of dogs but he wouldnt put the ball down so the dog just kept chasing him........ SUPPOSE YOU HAD TO BE THERE REALLY!!!!!! Ambitions for PJFC: My ambition for PJFC is NOT for every team to be successful but for every team to play football in the right way. Player development in my opinion is far more important than the winning so if every individual & team can develop in each training session & game then the team ARE THE WINNERS (winning games & trophies is just a bonus). Name: Craig Taylor Position in the club: Chairman & U13’s Manager Favouritefootballteam: Oxford Utd , probably get some stick for that! Favourite pro footballer: Present Ryan Giggs Past John Aldridge Best Sporting memory: Scoring the winning goal whilst playing for Chinnor Athletic to get us through to the Final of the cup after we were 1-0 down with 15 minutes left I scored from 30 yards in the bottom right corner........many years ago though! Any other hobbies: Spending time with the family...when i get the chance! Favourite PJFC moment: Over the 8 years I’ve been involved with the club & run my team there has been some brilliant moments as my boys have won many tournaments, won 2 league titles but my most favourite moment must be being the 1st ever team within PJFC history to win the prestigious Berks & Bucks cup final this season, after being 1-0 down at half time we came back to beat a very strong Scot FC team 2-1 & to see the boys faces at the final whistle is a memory that will stick with me for a lifetime! Most likely to be seen / heard: more than likely to be seen in the Purley S&S club & will always be heard by the side of the football pitch, as I have been known to be a bit vocal at times! Funniest thing seen on a football pitch: Probably would have to be when my team scored & then the whole team ran over to the parents all doing the latest crazy dance in time together, but for the life of me I can’t remember what the song was......... Something like Gangnam style, very funny! Ambitions for PJFC: As Chairman of PJFC my ambition is for all teams to progress, develop & grow to help the club grow into a more successful family orientated football club working very closely with the Parish, Cricket & Sports & Social club so that all involved can help each other & attract more & more families into the Purley clubs.
