Back GroundOVERWIEWThe slogan of Meentech automobile manufacturing

company is , ‘giving you the best product at the cheapest prices’

MEEN is an acronym of Micro Entertainment Enterprises Nigeria. It’s a registered company with Nigerian Corporate affairs commission.

THE NEEDIn more than one hundred and forty years history of

automobile, no vehicle has been designed to meet the peculiar needs of African terrain. For example all vehicles designed for today's urban use generally has low clearance, has no so rugged tyres or suspension that will withstand the rough terrain of most African urban dwelling.

Let me list the areas where today’s urban vehicle falls short in design

Page 4: Meentech auto plant

1 low clearance: Vehicle often hits the ground on rough and get stuck.

2 They do not have rugged tyres that can withstand the intense heat and rough terrain of African urban dwelling

3 poor tolerance of the electrical parts to mud water, parts like kick starter often fail due to water gaining entrance into the coils,

4 poor suspension and bow joints

Page 5: Meentech auto plant

5 often fragile / low thickness of the metal used in the making of the chassis and often the body

6 they do not put the power needs of African into consideration in any of their designs

7 very expensiveI can go on and on. The fact is , We African have no

choice, so we take the poor quality products dished out to us without complaints.(Please do not get me wrong, I define quality as the product that gives the nearest satisfaction to consumers needs in terms of utility, durability and aesthetics)

SOLUTIONThe solution does not lie in re-inventing the wheel,

it’s something simple use of the already existing technology can solve.

HOW TO MAKE IT CHEAP:PLS TAKE A LOOK AT THE PICTURE BELOW

Page 7: Meentech auto plant

A brand new 2 tonne truck like this cost about $25,000,. A 4 tonne truck about $30,000

Apart from the cabin, chassis/ frame, tyres, seats and engine what exactly made this vehicle so expensive. For your information let me give you the

prices of major componentsCabin:$600Chassis / frame: $1006 Tyres: $500Engine: $10002 Seats: $250Total $2450.

Page 8: Meentech auto plant

I have deliberately inflated the prices of some of these components I know if we give the remaining accessories $2000 we will be having the total product still lower than $10,000. So even if we are not producing anything but just importing and assembling trucks here in Nigeria we can still do them cheaply and still make a killing.

MORE SAVINGS:Nigeria charges 5% cif of the automobile parts, while

cbu (completely built up) or FBU (fully built up) is charged at 35% cif, (cost insurance and freight)

So importing the vehicle in parts you will save about 30% of the cost

Now a 40 foot container containing FBU cars will only carry about 4 cars but in SKD will be about 8 vehicle and in CKD will be about 15 cars.

So this will make you save about 50% of the cost just importing CKD or SKD and assembling locally.

To reduce the cost of production further, we are going to

Set up an auto assembly plant with the followingCarbon Steel cold forging/ stamping factory line

produce the bodyPlastic injection molding machine to produce some of

the plastic partsSet up aluminum die casting factory to produce

engines and aluminum partsWith these we can produce vehicles cheaply.
