Paris-CDG airport installed a fixed runway closurelighting system in the approaches of runway08L/26R and 08R/26L.The system is a yellow blinking cross, indicatingto pilots flying final approaches that a runway isclosed.The lighting system is installed in the horizontalplan before each threshold of runway 08L/26R and08R/26L.The crosses are composed of two 72 m longbranches crossing at an angle of 18 degree andcovering a ground surface of 71 m x 11 m. Thisfacility enables pilots to get visual informationabout runway status in case of any closure (asworks, runway inspection, ILS calibration, winteroperations). It is used as a complement to theclosing devices already in use (mobile crossesplaced after the thresholds). From January1st 2018, runway closure lighting crosses areassessed during operations on runway 08L/26Rand 08R/26L. The evaluation will go for 1 year.
