Getting Started (MEDITECH) 2This topic explains how the Management Pack for MEDITECH works and how to get started using it.
How the Management Pack Works
The Management Pack for MEDITECH is an IT management solution designed for healthcare organizations that use the MEDITECH® platform. The solution extracts system information from the MEDITECH SIRT share path and integrates it with VMware vRealize™ Operations Manager™ to create a single view of system performance across the MEDITECH Electronic Health Record (EHR) platform and supporting infrastructure.
VMware, Inc. 6
How to Get Started
To get started monitoring your MEDITECH environment from within vRealize Operations, see the following topics:
1 Review theChapter 3 System Requirements (MEDITECH) and ensure you have performed the necessary prerequisite tasks:

This chapter includes the following topics:
n Setting Up MEDITECH SIRT Files Share and Permissions
Setting Up MEDITECH SIRT Files Share and Permissions
Before you install the Management Pack for MEDITECH, you must prepare the MEDITECH SIRT files share.
Procedure
1 On your vSphere network:
a Set up a 1 GB SMB/CIFS share for the MEDITECH SIRT files share.
b Create a service user account with read/write permissions to that share.
This share will be used by MEDITECH to send information to the MEDITECH adapter, and by the adapter to retrieve the information.
Note Both MEDITECH and the MEDITECH Management Pack require the login credentials to the SIRT share.
VMware, Inc. 8
2 Contact your MEDITECH HCIS administrator and request they set up SIRT sharing for your version of the MEDITECH adapter.
Provide the SMB/CIFS share details and the service account credentials you created in Step 1.
3 When SIRT sharing is set up from the MEDITECH side, check that .sirt files are periodically copied to SMB/CIFS share.
