Introduction

This document was written by Patrick Sims to detail the various new

features in the MedilinkESI 2012+ R1/R2 release.

Please refer to previous feature list documents where you have skipped

releases etc..



Major Features

Medilink EHR (Clinical)

We have released our own clinical module, Medilink EHR, (electronic

health records). This includes full MIMS integration and script writing

capabilities, and is fully integrated to the Medilink database, (no more

linking!), including your existing Medilink letters.

We are currently working on a pathology results sub-module and hope

to have that available shortly.

Tyro EFTPOS/Easyclaim Integration

We have integrated with the Tyro EFTPOS device to provide for

integrated EFTPOS and Easyclaim. This provides you with additional

choice, and works along similar lines to our Hicaps and CBA/iCTK

solutions already available.

Modern GUI

We have a new and improved GUI with new icons for the accounting

and appointment book screens, and the accounting screen in

general. We are in the process of improving all dialogs, although these

changes will be in subsequent releases.

While many have told us they love the new look, we understand some

may be so used to the old one, and that they would prefer it; to

change it back, go to ‘File’->’Switch To Classic GUI’.



Minor Features

New Aged Analysis

The aged analysis fill algorithms have been greatly sped up. You can

enable or disable this newer algorithm from General Options, ‘New

Aged Analysis’.

Clinical Link Check

There is a setting to check if your Medilink clinical application (i.e.,

Medical Director) link has gone down in General Options, ‘Warn

Clinical Link Down’.

Patient Balances Update

You can now automatically update patient balances when you search

and bring them up in the accounting screen, (General Options).

New File Browser

There is an option to use your standard OS file browser when prompted

to choose a file by Medilink, (note: this is off by default as there have

been mixed results with this feature). The setting is in General Options.

Disable Processing Check

From General Options you can disable the batch processing check

that occurs whenever starting the Medicare Online Control Centre,

(i.e., that warns you that you have batches ready to process). On some

large data sets, this check is time consuming and unnecessary.

3 Month Specialist Referrals

You can elect to have new referrals be set to 3 months where the

referring provider is a specialist. This setting is in General Options.



The Medilink definition of what constitutes a specialist referrer is any

referrer in the system not set to ‘GP’ or ‘General Practitioner’ or ‘’ or ‘’ or ‘ZOld’.

Pre-Populate Payment

You can now pre-populate the EFTPOS savings or personal cheque

fields in the payment screen, via the options in General Options.

Strict Held Mode

You can make held mode more strict than normal with this General

Options setting on. It disables billing and appointments for held

patients, (and greys them out in the accounting module), until they are

un-held, (standard held mode simply warns the user, and is able to be

overridden).

Single Provider Mode

From the General Setup section in the Appointment Book, you can turn

on Single Provider Mode. This is handy for a provider’s PC, as it will only

show their column.

Single Interval Paste Mode

This setting basically means that when you paste a copied or moved

appointment you can elect for it to have a single interval or to be the

same length as the originating appointment. It is controlled in General

Setup in the Appointment Book, and can be turned on for copies or

moves, (or both/neither).

Allow Appointment Clash Delete

This setting determines whether or not the system will prompt you to

delete an existing appointment where there is a clash, (i.e., if you have

pasted in a new appointment and it is clashing with an existing

appointment). Some practices may not want to let staff delete existing

appointments so easily, and will want this off. It is in General Setup in

the Appointment Book.



Next/Previous Week

You can now display buttons in the Appointment Book that will skip

forward or back a week. The setting that controls this is in General

Setup.

Theatre Procedure Order

You can now alter the order of procedures in your theatre

appointments with the up and down arrows:



Batch Services Report

There is a new report that breaks down batches by individual services,

and allows you to choose specific item numbers. This report is available

under the Office menu.

Copies

The copies screen has had a revamp with colour coded transactions,

(i.e., like the History Report):

Make Cheques To

Where a provider’s bank account name details in Medilink have been

filled out, invoices and statements will now print out requesting

cheques to be made out to that provider’s bank account name, (if left

blank the registered practice name will be used as previous).

Remove Patient From Account

You can now use ‘Tools’->’Remove Patient From Account’ to detach

patients from an account where the:



• Patient is attached to multiple accounts. • Patient owes no money on the selected account. • Selected account is not a personal account.

If a patient is removed from an account incorrectly, you can always

edit the patient and click ‘Attach To’ to duplicate/transfer it back on

to an account.

Phonecalls

The Communications module has had a make-over and is now known

as Phonecalls. This module is meant as a replacement for the various

patient note taking systems in Medilink, (Patient Comments/Notes,

Appointment Comments, Free Notes).

It has been significantly simplified from the previous Communications

iteration, (although these complexities can be restored from the ‘File’-

>’General Options’->’Simplified Comm Dialogs’ setting).

You can import and link existing free notes and appointments via the

‘Tools’ menu in the accounting screen, but we suggest you do this after

hours, as these operations will take some time to complete.

Reports

Many reports have had a minor revamp with the fonts and style used.

Paste Appointment Check Referral

We now ensure that referrals are properly checked when you paste an

appointment, (i.e., when moving or copying appointments). This setting

is available in the appointment book, ‘Setup’->’General’->’Check

Referral When Pasting Appointment’.

Omni Search

Our new Omni Search feature is designed to extend the usage of the

existing Fast Search feature that many use and love. It simply adds the

ability to perform searches across a wide range of fields in the one go,

rather than limiting your fast on-the-fly searches to being based on

name only.



The Smart Search feature is still available for those who prefer it.

Appointment Finished Review Letter Check

There is now an option to automatically set an appointment to ‘R’,

(review letter), if after you finish an appointment, there are outstanding

review letters for that patient.

The setting is in the appointment book ‘Setup’->’General’->’Check

Reviews On Appointment Finish’.

Warn Bulk Bill Referral Expired

This is a new setting to warn users when they enter the bulk billing

screen and the referral for that patient is or was expired for the service

date. ‘File’->’General Options’->’Check Bulk Bill Referral Valid’.

SMS Appointment Checks

For clients using our SMS message system, (2Hippo), there is now an

option to prompt users creating an appointment to:

1. Check if the patient has a mobile phone number in the home or work phone fields, and automatically transfer it across to the

mobile phone field.



2. Ask if the patient consents to receiving SMS appointment reminders.

This ensures that you maximise efficiency of the SMS messaging system.

The setting is available from the Appointment Book ‘New Appointment

SMS Check’.

Check All IMCs

The feature to check all outstanding IMCs has been revamped. The old

version had a flaw where it may not have correctly receipted off, and

these can be cleaned-up via ‘Tools’->’Cleanup IMC Receipts’.

IMC Breakdown

The IMC Breakdown report has been significantly sped-up.
