The capital region tops the list of Germany‘s leading locations for film and TV production! More than 3,300 companies create a turnover of over €2.3 billion here each year. Highly specia liz ed studios offer ideal conditions for large-scale series production from infotainment all the way to major variety shows.
GERMaN SERIES PRODUCTIONS One-third of all German series productions originate in the capital region, including Germany‘s first daily soap GUTE ZEITEN, SCHLECHTE ZEITEN (RTL) and CIRCUS HALLIGALLI (ProSieben), the brand-new show featuring Joko and Klaas.
SUCCESSFUL PROGRaMS aND TaLK ShOwSThe region has produced successful shows like THE VOICE OF
GERMANY (Sat.1/ProSieben), action series like EIN STARKES TEAM, but also outstanding documentaries like the Grimme Prize-win-ning 20xBRANDENBURG, a major multimedia TV event funded by the Medienboard (rbb). Berlin is also the undisputed capital of talk shows with such giants as GÜNTHER JAUCH (ARD), ANNE WILL
(ARD) and MAYBRIT ILLNER (ZDF) all working from here.
TRaNSMEDIaL FORMaTSBerlin-Brandenburg is also home to the next-generation tele - vis ion of tomorrow. For example, the transmedia crime show TV format DINA FOXX (ZDF) recently made the headlines as did the cross-media event FAREWELL COMRADES! (Arte). In Berlin, tape.tv continues to set the standard for the music television of the fut ure. Started in summer 2013 the Swiss social TV chan nel joiz.tv broadcasts from the German capital. With its trigger.tv and eNtR berlin, UFA has created two YouTube channels that feature original content. And, for the first time, ProSiebenSat1 produc ed MISSION HOUSEMEN, a sitcom designed especially for the Internet.
INDUSTRY EVENTSLast but not least, the region hosts a number of prominent TV industry events, including the INTERNATIONAL MEDIA
CON VEN TION at the MEDIENWOCHE@IFA, the GOLDENE KAMERA, the BAMBI, the PRIX EUROPA and the GERMAN PRODUCERS’ DAY, all of which bring all major national and international media players to Berlin on an annual basis.

DEVELOPMENT aND FUNDING FOR ThE REGION‘S MEDIa INDUSTRY The Medienboard is the central contact point for all stakeholders active in the capital region’s media and creative industries. Launched in 2004, the Medienboard has played a significant part in driving dynamic media development ever since. The agency offers targeted consulting services, national and international networking and countless media-related events and uses their annual budget of roughly €30 million to fund and promote feature films, TV events, innovative media content and media development projects.
Among the TV events funded by the Medienboard are a number of successful productions such as DER MINISTER, NACHT ÜBER
BERLIN, DER TURM, DRESDEN, DIE LUFTBRÜCKE, UNSERE MÜTTER,
UNSERE VÄTER and many more.

whO IS ELIGIBLE FOR FUNDING?_ Producers who reside in Germany and/or have offices here; they must also have solid references in all relevant product- ion areas.
whaT IS ELIGIBLE FOR FUNDING?_ Concept development _ Actual production of TV pilots for fiction or documentary- style series, TV series entertainment or infotainment formats
whaT aRE ThE PREREQUISITES TO RECEIVE FUNDING?_ 100 percent of the funding must be spent in Berlin- Brandenburg._ If the pilot leads to a series, that series must be produced in the Berlin-Brandenburg region.
hOw MUCh FUNDING IS aVaILaBLE?_ The Medienboard can provide up to 30% of the costs of the pilot; up to 50% is possible on the basis of the EU’s “de minimis” rule._ Funding is provided as a conditionally repayable interest- free loan.
