In 2016, biosaxony set up the Section Medi ­cal Technology. Combining biotechnology with medical technology is intended to enable new areas of innovation to be identified, network actors from different fields, and hence lastingly strengthen the regional economic struc ture of both sectors. In 2016, biosaxony was the host bioregion of the German Biotech Conference in Leipzig.
