of diagnostics, concentrating on medical applica tions. Areas such as regenerative medi cine, molecular bioengineering, systems bio logy, as well as the treatment of cancer and diabetes characterise the type of research which is being carried out in Dresden. The potential of highly qualified specialists, a research sector strongly focussed on practical applications, as well as internationally oriented networks all make for a highly advantageous exchange between business and science.

Dresdenis one of Germany’s strongest economic

hubs. This is where innovations in the fields of life sciences, microelectronics, ICT and new ma terials are tapping into the markets of the future. Dresden, in conjunction with the adjoining towns of Radeberg and Radebeul, and on the basis of extensive synergies, offers exceptional conditions for the location of biotech nology and medical technology companies. Areas such as smart health and smart home are gaining noticeably in importance. Germany’s largest telemedicine project “CCS Telehealth Ostsachsen” has its roots here.

Digital smart lab systems for diagnostics and analyses are indispensable for labora to ry analyses in medical science and the life scien ces. Dresden’s biotechnology and medical techno logy companies are very strong in the area

Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship

is a government agency, responsible for implementing the economic, innovation and enterprise policy in Flanders, the Dutch speaking northern part of Belgium. As a contact point for entrepreneurs in Flanders, we encourage and support innovation and entrepreneurship, and contribute to a favourable business climate.

We do this in close collaboration with local actors and supported by our international commitments in EUREKA, E.E.N. and H2020.

Within the different levels of government, and especially at European level, Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship seeks to increase the involvement of Flemish partners in the numerous calls for health related projects. Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship supports companies, local governments, research centres, nonprofit organisations, ... in their search for the right Flemish and/or international partner(s) and to better understand the

various range of public (policy) instruments and subsidies of the Flemish, Federal and European governments in a healthcare context. That is why we are part of Flanders’ Care, the healthcare sector group of E.E.N. (Enterprise Europe Network) and NCP (National Contact Point) for SC 1 (Societal Challenge) Health, Demo graphic Change and Wellbeing.

In 2010 the Government of Flanders created the transversal policies domain programme Flanders’ Care as a driver for innovation. The mission statement of Flanders’ Care is “to measurably improve the quality of care through innovation and responsible entrepreneurship”. Quality of care and industrial supply are closely intertwined. Entrepreneurship is crucial to provide the right solutions for the increasing demand in care needs and to keep people as long as they will at home.

In 2016, biosaxony set up the Section Medi cal Technology. Combining biotechnology with medical technology is intended to enable new areas of innovation to be identified, network actors from different fields, and hence lastingly strengthen the regional economic struc ture of both sectors. In 2016, biosaxony was the host bioregion of the German Biotech Conference in Leipzig. In addition, in 2016, the associa tion for the promotion of health care (VFG) and biosaxony sealed the already close cooperation with a cooperation agreement to support Saxon companies to develop products for the health market. biosaxony is a member of the gocluster program and has been awarded the Bronze Label of the European Cluster Excellence Initiative.

biosaxonyis the association of the biotechnology

and medical technology sector in the region of Saxony. Its members represent the various companies, research institutes and lobbyists working in biotechnology and medtech and the related areas of engineering and material sciences in Saxony. It pulls the different strands of biotech and medtech together, gauges its members’ needs, and represents their interests. biosaxony’s responsibilities include initiating projects between industry and research, pinpointing services and knowhow, harnessing synergies, and highlighting regional expertise in order to support the valueadded develop ment of these crosscutting technologies. Other elements of its cluster work include developing new ideas and strategies as well promoting sustainable technology transfer, such as at its partnering conference bionection. Local work is strengthened by biosaxony’s two offices in Leipzig and Dresden.

The MoveoSiphon ST24 provides an effecti ve outbreak protection. It prevents the appearance of pathogens and biofilm formation by thermal disinfection and vibration cleaning. The continuous and automatic disinfection with the MoveoSiphon ST24 prevents the creation of infectious biologicalaerosols and therefore the transmission of pathogens from the wash basin to the patient.

To be true to our company mission: “We make a difference in hygiene and disinfection” MoveoMed GmbH is continually developing the MoveoSiphon ST24 and making a useful contribution to the prevention of Hospitalacquired infections (HAI).

MoveoMed GmbH is a German medical technology company

based in Radebeul nearby Dresden. The company was founded in 2012 and is offering adequate hygiene solutions for hospitals and healthcare settings.

With its patented disinfection device for sink traps MoveoSiphon ST24 MoveoMed has set itself the target to contribute to the improvement of hygiene especially in sanitary areas.

The MoveoSiphon ST24 (EUPatent 1 159 493) has been developed by the company Biorec as hygie nic siphon for sink traps in hospitals. The aim of the development was the prevention of Hospitalacquired infections (HAI) by avoiding the production of in

fectious aerosols in clinical sanitary facili ties. Since 2012 the hygienic siphon is in the hands of MoveoMed GmbH and marketed under the brand name MoveoSiphon ST24.

Conventional sink traps are wellknownpathogen reservoirs and do not fulfil the high hygie ne standards needed in invasive intensive care.
