From the Chancellor's OfficeHon'ble Dr. Patangrao Kadam

    M.A. L.L.B.,Ph.D.

    FOUNDER - CHANCELLOR

    DearStudents,

a brief profile of our Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University. I would very much like all of you to know

about Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University and its parent body Bharati Vidyapeeth because these two

institutions are distinct from others of their kind in many respects. I established Bharati Vidyapeeth in

1964 I am indeed happy to note your interest injoining our University. In this small booklet we have presented with

a realization that the all sided social transformation can be brought about through the spread of education.

During the last 46 years, we haveestablished more than 171 educational units of various kinds right from Pre-

PrimarySchool up to the University in different parts of India and even in the

capital city of New Delhi. Bharati Vidyapeeth is an institution with its distinct ideology, which can bebriefly

    stated thus.

Our objective is: to make quality education accessible to the students coming from different regions and

different strata of the society and to provide the same to them as per their individual choices and inclinationat affordable prices.

Our constant endeavour is to create ambiance in the campuses propitious for learning by providing

continuously updated courses and with the help of enriched infrastructural facilities such as well-

equipped laboratories, rich library and well maintained playground, hostels.

It is a gratifying experience for me to know that thousands of students who have passed out from the

portals of our institutions have established themselves very well in different walks of life.

In April, 1996, the Government of India conferred the status of University to a cluster of our institutions in

accordance with the provisions in the University accordance with the provisions in the University Grants

Commission Act, 1956. Since the inception of this University, our endeavour has been to develop it as alively and throbbing center of learning and research. I am very happy to say here that within the short span

of a decade or so, this University has established its academic reputation not only across the country

but also outside. This is evident from the fact that we get students from different parts of India and also

from different countries. Our both the campuses in Pune are very well planned and developed. They can

be easily compared with the leading educational campuses in the country. We provide all the necessary

amenities and facilities to our students on our campuses

What we have achieved so far is definitely commendable. But I am aware there is still scope for us to

better and to reach the higher pinnacles of academic excellence. I have no doubt that we will be able to

achieve these objectives in cooperation with our faculties of various institutions which include expert,

    experienced and student caring teachers.

I wish, you will be one of those fortunate students, who will get admission to one of our colleges. I assureyou that your life in our campus will be richly rewarding, academically and otherwise also.

I extend my best wishes to you all for a success in the Entrance Test for which you are appearing, as well

as, for your future successful professional career.

    DentalCollege & Hospital (Pune)

Our Dental College was established in 1989 to fulfill the aspirations of students to obtain a

professional education and in response to the growing demand for education in dentistry in this

region. This was the first such initiative in the State of Maharashtra. In 1993, the Dental Council of

India recognized the B.D.S. degree of our College.

The College is housed in a new building of 2,07,000 sq.ft. The building is not only an

architectural beauty but it is functionally well planned. The Dental College & Hospital is a pioneering

institute in this part of the country in the field of dental education. All our graduates have made a

name for themselves in private practice, employment and higher studies in India as well as abroad.

The College has a very progressive and pragmatic environment developed by highly

qualified and experienced teaching staff, using the most modern and innovative teaching aids and

methodologies. We emphasize on simulated and real life experience based learning. A transparent

and continuous system of monitoring and evaluation is an important component of the programme.

Such an environment is well supported by state of the art equipment (both imported and indigenous)

and materials. Our own operation theatre (besides full access to the advanced OT Complex of 870-

bed Bharati Hospital), titanium casting equipment, ceramic fabrication systems, laser equipment,

research microscope and digital imaging systems are but a few examples. Community extension

programmes that are organized by the department of Community Dentistry round the year, not only

provide training to the students in dental health education, but also generate a variety of clinical

material. A rich hands-on experience to prepare the students for future independent practice is thus

ensured. A well stocked library and internet facility caters to the academic needs of our students and

    staff.

In our pursuit to further raise the standards of education and research, the year 2002 saw us

start postgraduate courses. The Government of India, on recommendation from the Dental Council of

India, permitted us to start these in as many as eight specialties of dentistry viz. Orthodontics,

Prosthodontics, Oral Diagnosis, Pediatric Dentistry, Oral and Maxillo-facial Surgery, Conservative

Dentistry and Endodontics, Periodontology and Oral Pathology and Microbiology with a total intake of

34 students per year. Regular continuing education programmes, to keep the students and faculty

abreast with the latest knowledge, materials and techniques is a hallmark of our course plan.

Come, join us and realize your potential ! We will make your dreams come true at Bharati DeemedVidyapeeth University Dental College and Hospital, Pune !
