In 1890, a young carpenter named John Findorff started aconstruction company under the name J.H. Findorff. Its firstproject involved carpentry work at UW-Madison’s Armory,better known today as the “Red Gym.” This initial undertaking began a long tradition of Findorff constructing notable structures not only on the University’s campus,including the Chazen Art Museum’s expansion and WisconsinInstitute for Discovery, but also throughout Madison.Such projects include the American Family Children’s Hospital, Monona Terrace, and Overture Center for the Arts.

Findorff officially incorporated in 1946 as J.H. Findorff &Son Inc., the Company’s current name. In the early 1970s, Findorff became active in the Milwaukee market and openeda full-service office by 1987. The Milwaukee office has contributed to the early success of the Froedtert MemorialLutheran Hospital and Henry Reuss Federal Plaza.

As time progressed, Findorff established itself as a leading builder in the Midwest. The Company has grown to employ an average of 700 people between its Madison and Milwaukee offices. Additionally, our industry experience has earned us over 100 awards just in the past 10 years alone; recognizing our commitment to quality construction and civic initiatives. Findorff has developed a comprehensive safety program to control the hazards inherent to construction projects. Through engineering and administrative controls, Findorff takes proactive steps through pre-planning and education to protect its workers, subcontractors, clients, and the general public.

Findorff additionally has an in-house Safety Committee. It is comprised of the Company’s Safety Director and several experienced employees. Their responsibilities involve tracking trends, analyzing hazards, reviewing employee safety suggestions, as well as recommending training exercises and safety equipment.

Findorff prides itself in being an innovator in the field of safety. For example, Findorff began using hardhats in 1954, seventeen years before OSHA required them. It is Findorff’s goal to continuosly enhance this proactive tradition and make Findorff the safest contractor it can be by creating an atmosphere where all employees are involved in making safety their highest priority.

CONSTRUCTION SAFETY

FINDORFF’S SAFETY DIRECTORSonny Femal is Findorff’s Safety Director and brings a wealth of experience to her role. For the last three decades, she has been the driving force developing and managing Findorff’s safety program, which was established to promote safe work environments and to enforce Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. Sonny continues to be instrumental in promoting safety throughout all areas of the Company. She is also a Certified OSHA Trainer and the recipient of the 2009 Excellence in Safety Award from AGC of Wisconsin.

FINDORFF’S EXPERIENCE MODIFICATION RATING

Findorff’s current Experience Modification Rating (EMR) is .53.

Compared to the industry average of 1.0, this means our job

sites are generally more than 40% safer than others in the

industry. Our five-year average safety rating of .56 shows

that safety is a chief concern, and one we continue to follow

with consistency.

INDUSTRY INSIGHTS

DAVE BECK-ENGELPresident

Dave has over 30 years of experience and offers a wealth of insight into the construction industry. As Findorff’s President, Dave provides strategic direction for the Company and serves as a resource for preconstruction, project management, and field efforts. Additionally, he proudly takes an active role in the community; serving on the Board of Directors for local organizations such as Project Home, Future Madison Housing Fund, Access Community Health Centers, and AGC of Wisconsin.

BRIAN HORNUNGVice President

Brian brings 15 years of experience to his role as Vice President of Field Operations. Prior to this position, Brian served as a senior project manager on a number Findorff’s most notable projects. In 2012, Brian was promoted to his current role, where his primary responsibilities involve managing and supporting project superintendents, foremen, and field staff. Brian is also a Porchlight Board Member and has been honored with the 40 Under 40 Award from In Business Magazine.

JEFF TUBBSVice President of Business Development

Jeff brings over 20 years of client relations experience to his role as Vice President of Business Development.Throughout all project phases, he works directly with the owner, architect, and other team members to facilitate open communications and ensure positive experiences for all parties involved. Jeff currently holds several leadership roles on various boards and committees throughout Dane County; including Board President for the Sun Prairie Education Foundation and Board Director for the Bank of Sun Prairie.

ERIC WYNNGeneral Manager for Southeast Wisconsin

Eric has 17 years of industry experience and has held positions as both a project manager and a senior project manager at Findorff. He is very knowledge of the construction trades and southeast Wisconsin markets. His strengths specifically include scheduling, estimating, and project planning.Eric is currently the Corporate Director for the AGC of Greater Milwaukee Chapter and an Advisory Board Member for Bradley Tech High School Construction/Architecture Pathway program.
