CoverCoverThis is my final music magazine Front Cover. I am going to explain in these first few presentations how my magazine is conventional and how it contrasts with other Music Magazines. I think overall that my music magazine is conventional, this is because that it has a main image for the background, barcode, price and also the text at the bottom of the page telling you who is inside the magazine. I have kept the theme of the main image as the background, the reason I have chosen to do this is so that the magazine looks professional, eye catching and also to tell the readers that this artist is the main headline in the magazine. I decided not to out a boarder around the outside of the page as I thought this would make the front cover look to over the top and would cancel out the Main image. Another thing that I think is conventional is the title, I believe this as it is at the top of the page and is also very bold, I chose to put the bands that have got interviews in the magazine in the centre of the page, I chose to do this as most magazine put them down the side, this is one thing that I think is unconventional, also so people can see what bands are getting interviewed. have chosen this image as it is fairly similar to my actually magazine, this is because that there is a main image for the background, a large Masthead, a barcode to show that it is for sale and also the price of the magazine so people know how much it is before they purchase it.

Here is my final contents page. As you can see I have kept the same colour background and the same paint splash, this is so that it looks professional and so that it shows that it is the same story. As you can see that I have kept the title at the top of the page but I have changed the colour, this is so that it doesn’t look boring. If I didn’t use the same colour as the front cover I think it would look very stupid and it wouldn’t look as though it was the same story, also I have changed the font of the text, this is because I wanted it to look different but also similar to the front cover and the rest of the magazine. I again chose too add one main image as the contents page to show again that this is the main story in the magazine. I have also added an image underneath the writing of the extras, this is because that the image that is there is one of the images from the DVD that is featured in the magazine. My original idea for my magazine was to put lots of smaller images around the main image, when I was testing this out it looked unconventional and too over the top. So I just chose to put a main image and then a smaller image in the corner. I have added page numbers next to the bands names to show which page they will be on. Because the main image is the main story in the magazine I have also added the page number on to the image.

Page SpreadPage SpreadThis is my final double page spread, as you can clearly see that I have kept the same colour background, pain splashes and colour of the text. This is so that it looks professional and conventional, also it makes my magazine flow as there isn't too many things going on at once. Instead of using the image the same as the other pages I have tried to add different pictures on to this page. I have chosen to do this because all people like looking at images and it would get rather boring if it was the same one through the magazine. Like I was going to do on the contents page add smaller images around the main one, I have done it on this page. This is because I wanted the two pages to link well, and by adding a photo in the middle of the page it shows that both the pages are linked together. This is also shown by the paint splashes and the Masthead across both pages.

Again I have changed the font text so it doesn’t look boring. I have used the same colours but not text. This is so it looks conventional. I chose to be basic and simple by putting images on one side of the page and text on the other but linking the two pages together with paint splashes, the image down the centre of the page and the Masthead.

The magazines that I looked at all helped me with my age and who is was going to represent it to. Although most of it came of the top of my head it is still helped me by researching other magazines. At first when I was told we were doing a |Music Magazine I didn’t really know what Genre I was going to produce my Music Magazine on. I wanted to make my Target Audience to be varied, I didn’t want it to be aimed at a certain age. So I added a paint splash and a variety of colours to the pages. Although, I think that it could be pushed more towards adult range this is because that there is a main picture of an adult on each page.

I finally chose Rock to be the theme of my Music Magazine. I chose this as there are a wide range of people of all ages that like or are into Rock Music.

I wanted my music magazine to be different from the other magazine that are on sale in the shops. This is because that you would normally see a slim dead pretty celebrity on the page. My magazine doesn’t do this, although the singer is fairly slim not many people would know who they are. There is normally an image on the front of the magazine who people would know, and the lesser known artists would be a smaller imager in the corner or the next page. The reason I chose to put this image on the front is because that the magazine is based on this band ‘MOZROCK’ not a person that is commonly know to the public eye. Most magazines would try to attract a certain sex, but I have tried to attract both sexes with this image, as it is a man which would attract women but then there is tattoos on the man so it would attract the opposite side.

The colours that I have used I believe will attract the public eye as it is quite eye catching but not too over the top. By using a dark coloured background and a light colours for the writing this is what makes my magazine stand out. I wanted to stay with the trend black and red so that it is conventional. Also the colours represent the theme rock, as most people dress in dark colours and like the colour black. Thinking back to the colours I was going chose they wouldn’t have gone with the magazine genre at all as I was going to pick light and bright colours, this would have looked very unconventional.

When I was choosing the photos for my magazine, I had to be very careful. This is because that I didn’t want the image to be in the wrong place or to be in the wrong clothes. I wanted to keep the style of Rock so I chose the images by looking at where they were and what they were wearing, in this case he hasn’t got a top on and he is at a concert performing. I wanted the image to be loud and over the top as it is a Rock magazine.

Lastly I wanted the interview to be as though he was speaking to the readers directly, and make it quite fun to read. I didn’t want to put the readers off with a boring interview so I tried to make the questions as good as I could with good feedback from the singer.

I think an obvious media institute that would publish my Magazine would be a Music Company, as my magazine is on music. I would choose a magazine publisher that publishes all over the world. A large company, this would be ideal for my Magazine as it is knew and it would get more people buying the magazine as the company would be able to advertise it more as there would be more money in a larger company than a smaller one. I have done some research on Music Companies to see which one would be best suited for my Rock magazine.

This site is a well know music site for Music Magazine Companies. This site provides a variety of leading music magazines to more than 1400 music companies. MusicMags was created in 1998.

When doing my research I mainly looked at ‘Q’ and ‘KERRANG’ magazine. This is because they both inspired me as they are Rock magazine and they gave me the most information on how I could set my magazine out. I was able to pick my Target Audience by looking at the images on the front of the ‘Q’ and ‘KERRANG’ magazine, this is because that it gave me a guideline on what it should be by looking at some of the magazines. The pictures that are mainly on the front of the magazines are very loud and bold. The magazines that I said before mainly use the colours black and red, this is the reason I chose these colours. Different music magazine’s use different methods to attract there audience such as colours and images. When I was researching different magazines ‘Q’ gave me the best idea for the title as it is big and bold. This is what I wanted. I got the idea from the main image on the background from various magazines as most magazines use one main image for the background with other little features around them.

AudienceAudienceWhen doing my research I found out the ways In which different magazines attract the viewers attention. I looked at the title KERRANG! and it gave me the idea to use a similar font, Bold and Big. I also noticed that the title was all in one colour and the title colour was the same as the background, this is what gave me the idea to do my title and background like the KERRANG magazine.

As well as making the title big and bold I also wanted to attract the audience by putting a bold image in the middle of the page. If you have an image of some one big and famous on the front cover then it will immediately attract there attention as they know that there will be a good story inside the magazine. Putting good headlines and stories on the front of the page will also attract there attention more as they know by looking at the headlines that it wont just be one good story in the magazine there is many more to follow that one. Again from the research that I did I found that most magazines have a headline on there showing that there will be the latest Download Chart and who is at number 1.

I think that by adding different images from my Front Cover and Contents page to my double page spread attracts the readers attention. Also I think that the interview will intrigue people as it is wrote how the singer said it. It tells the reader mostly what they need to know about the singer and what he does outside of music.

Since taking media studies at A level I have learnt a lot about fireworks and how to use this software properly. I have learnt how to use near enough all of the tools on fireworks to make my work look more professional and better. The main thing that I learnt from using fireworks was Fading an image. Technology I have

used..I have used a variety of website for my coursework, Blogger and Slideshare. Before starting Media studies I didn’t no anything about these two website, these are new to me. By using these two website they have learnt me how to upload videos to blogger and how to post on Blogger.
