Media Studies Media Studies is one of the Options on our 3 year rolling programme. We have been in Year One of the Rolling

programme this year, so the students have enjoyed the opportunity to access Media Studies this year.

Media Studies is accredited through Quality Mark at Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum Level.

Media studies this year have covered photography and the film industry. We have visited various locations to

take photos using both an iPad, digital and DSLR cameras. Students have also learned how to upload, edit and

print their photos. During the St Nicks Fayre at Christmas we put on an exhibition of our work and even sold

some prints.

During our film industry topic we have been looking at different genres of film. We have also been looking at

how camera angles are used to create tension and how different emotions are portrayed in different ways

through music and acting. Students have also looked at a variety of music that has been used in film and

shown a preference towards different songs.

We recently began a film mash up called ‘Hooked on Pan’. Which is a combination of Peter Pan and Hook.

Students worked together to create characters and scenes. We identified potential props that we could use

and chose music to accompany each scene.
