Jo Manning Media Studies- Assignment 1 What’s the story? An average guy in his late twenties, early thirties waking up one morning in his room to find a big red button and a brief case full of money in front of him. Also there is a mysterious guy in a suit sat in a chair by his desk in the room. He explains to the guy just woken up that he has been ‘chosen’ and has a choice to press the red button which will kill one person in the country and get the brief case of money or to leave it all alone and carry his life on as normal. The mysterious guy persuades him to press the button in the end. The guy grabs the briefcase full of money with joy and runs outside to go and bank it or spend it although as he is running he doesn’t notice the bus coming round the corner of the road and runs out in front of it. The man gets run over and dies, the brief case opens and the money flies everywhere. We lastly see the mysterious guy looking down at the scene and shaking his head. Who is being represented? In this short film there is a young, selfish, maybe greedy man being represented and a mysterious quite upper class, middle aged man in a suit. What is your target audience? My target audience for this short film would be 15-25. I think the younger people in the age scale would enjoy watching it as it would be quite comical, especially towards the end when the guy gets run over, because the man chose to press the button and kill someone so he could have all the money; however he happened to kill himself so he didn’t get the money anyway. I think the older end of the scale would enjoy as the characters in the film are older maybe they could relate well with them, yet still find the story quite comical.

Media Studies- Assignment 1

What’s the story?

What genre would this video fall under?

I think the genre of this short film would be a comedy as it has some funny situations and conclusions.

What is the overall feel of the video going to be?

The overall feel for this video will be a situation comedy. It will mainly involve two characters and will give the audience chance to relate to them and the story. In this film I’m going to use a lot of point of view shots from the normal guy to make the audience feel more involved.
