Q1: In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

We decided to use black and white filters on several shots. This filter is used in many R&B and rap videos and goes along with the product conventions.

We put Waseem up against a plain white background to carry on with our stripped back look and used lighting to have a more defined look to Waseem and his silhouette.

Nelly- Get Like Me stays in black and white filter with a white background throughout

We did however decide to define Waseem using a silhouette effect which moved away from the R&B and Rap conventions as you can see in the Nelly video

Q1: In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Like many RnB videos, our video revolves around a women and how our star is trying to win her.

The song itself is about a beautiful women and how R. Kelly fell for her. We wanted to personify this women in our video so our audience could relate to it more.

This is a shot of a the love interest in the video R.Kelly- Same Girl, another song about a girl in which she is displayed as an object of desire which we took inspiration from.

We wanted to make this shot similar to the one of Waseem to how the both of them are linked together in the video.

We wanted to use the club scene conventions with Waseem at the very heart of it. This agrees with the conventions of R&B Rap genre we are trying to fit into.

Q1: In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

We used slow motion so the people dancing were in time with the slower beat.

We made all the actors stay close together so it looked like a busy club like in the 50 Cent video.

We put pink filter paper over the lights to make it look like club lighting

I have noticed a boom in product placement in music videos due to the vast number of people watching videos on YouTube and Vevo. We decided to follow suit.

Product placement was originally used more in Hollywood movies and goes as far back as films like E.T and Back to the Future. Now however, companies like Beats by Dre have diversified and moved towards music videos as a way of gaining more exposure.

Beats Smoke machine added to fit in with the club vibe we were trying to create.

It gives off the affect that the club we are trying to create looks busy

It centre on our star as following convention as this is an effective camera within RnB Rap genre as we look down upon the star of the video.
