Sovereign Health

At Sovereign Health, patients are our highest priority. We believe that mental illness, addiction and cognitive deficits are brain diseases that constrain people’s lives, but they do not define them. We see our patients as human beings and honor them for their independent qualities. Our world-class, licensed treatment professionals focus on treating the individual inside.

Sovereign Health’s commitment to each individual begins with a rigorous, comprehensive diagnostic assessment that includes an evaluation of the patient’s cognitive functioning. We passionately believe that the foundation for recovery needs to be a highly comprehensive, individualized and evidence-based treatment plan.

Sovereign Health operates nine treatment facilities in five states: California, Arizona, Florida, Texas and Utah. Our treatment centers are licensed and have been awarded Gold Seal accreditation by The Joint Commission, the highest level of accreditation available in the behavioral health field.

Sovereign ProgramsJennifer Moore, M.D., Associate Director of Clinical Excellence, discusses the Nutritionally-Assisted Detox (NAD) program on the NBC affiliate KMIR’s program “Desert Living”. As Dr. Moore notes in the interview, NAD is a unique, all-natural, rapid detoxification process that is designed to help individuals abstain from, or rid the body of, toxic and unhealthy substances and fight cravings with the use of NAD supplements. Instead of fighting the brain’s natural healing process, NAD works in tandem to reduce the painful symptoms associated with withdrawal. The mission of the IFP, which was first launched in 2014 at Sovereign’s San Clemente facility, is to improve the quality of life for patients and their families. The program educates family members about the conditions affecting their loved ones, while spending quality visitation time during therapy sessions and other events. In this two-day program, Sovereign Health’s staff provides each family with the knowledge, skills and support to learn about the patient’s specific diagnosis. PROGRAMS OF SOVEREIGN HEALTHA Better Way to a Better Life

Sovereign knows that cognitive impairment places individuals at a higher risk for psychiatric disorders. Our application of neurobiology research, particularly in neuroplasticity, underpins our brain wellness and cognitive retraining approach to recovery.

Upon arrival, a patient’s cognitive and emotional functioning is assessed. Once in treatment, progress is monitored through a process of measurement-based assessments, which allows us to modify interventions in real time.

We use a treatment approach that integrates interpersonal and object relations psychotherapy with motivational interviewing, dialectical behavioral therapy and cognitive retraining.

Good mental health requires ongoing maintenance throughout one’s life. We help patients set and accomplish quantifiable goals and offer long-term monitoring of their progress post-treatment through our e-therapy service.

Mental Health Program

Sovereign Health is a leader in the treatment of addiction, mental health disorders and dual diagnosis. Dual diagnosis refers to a mental health condition and substance abuse occurring simultaneously.

Sovereign believes that addiction is a chronic brain disease that may include periods of relapse. It is important to note that repeated relapses after a periods of sobriety may indicate the presence of an underlying disorder requiring professional treatment.

At Sovereign Health, we specialize in the complex assessment and multidisciplinary care required to successfully treat clients who are struggling with dual diagnosis. Our behavioral health team of master- and doctoral-level therapists are uniquely qualified to treat the mental health conditions that often accompany substance abuse.

The Pain Recovery Program at Sovereign Health is designed to help individuals whose pain derived from physical injury has led to an addiction to prescription and / or illegal drugs.

Addiction is a chronic and multidetermined brain disease that often includes relapses and may include physical pain as an initial trigger. Sovereign Health’s integrative approach to pain recovery focuses on the biological, social, environmental and personality variables that maintain the addiction to pain medication.

Depending on each patient’s unique situation, our mission is to reduce the patient’s primary reliance on addictive medication and enhance their nonpharmacologic pain recovery.

Nutritionally Assisted Detox (NAD) is an intravenous (IV) therapy that is used to detox those suffering from addiction to drugs and/or alcohol without the use of other addictive medications. NAD offers 5-, 10- or 14-day therapy sessions and restores cognitive functioning while diminishing withdrawal symptoms, fatigue, depression and anxiety.

NAD is a natural solution to detox therapy and weans the body off its physical dependency in a fraction of the time that it would take with regular detox medications. This innovative therapy treats addiction at its source: the brain.

Sovereign Health of California is a leading provider of mental health and addiction/dual diagnosis treatment services. For many patients, the journey to recovery begins with detox.
