Complaint:
Cause and remedy updated
Operation and music playback from iPod/iPhone not possible.
Cause: 1. Wrong Media Interface connecting cable used for iPod/iPhone.
2. When connecting the "iPhone 5", "iPod nano?" or "iPod touch 5" to the Media Interface connecting cable, a genuine Lightning adapter from Apple is not used.
3. Dirt or dust in the jack of the iPod/iPhone or in the plug of the Media Interface connecting cable.
4. Activated apps are preventing identification or audio output from the iPod/iPhone.
5. Error in the internal data management of the iPod/iPhone.
Remedy: 1. Use the correct Media Interface connecting cable.
Note:
In the "Media Interface" area at www.mercedes-benz-mobile.com/service, check whether the customer is using the correct Media Interface connecting cable for his vehicle.
2. Use genuine Lightning adapter from Apple.
Note:
Check whether the Lightning adapter really is a genuine accessory part from Apple. The rear of the genuine accessory part from Apple bears a "Designed by Apple in California" inscription.
3. Remove dirt and dust from the jack of the iPod/iPhone or the plug of the Media Interface connecting cable.
4. Close all running apps on the iPod/iPhone and restart the iPod/iPhone. Then reconnect the unit to the Media Interface connecting cable.

a) Depending on the software version used in your iPhone/iPod, the apps can be closed via the following button combinations (for further information refer to the operating instructions of the iPod/iPhone):
Option 1: Press Home button 2x -> Running apps are displayed (list at bottom) ->Hold down the running app ->The app "jiggles" ->The app can now be closed by selecting the red minus sign.
Option 2: Press Home button 2x -> Running apps are displayed (center of screen)-> Swipe upwards.
b) The following options are available to restart the iPhone/iPod (for further information refer to the operating instructions of the iPod/iPhone):
iPod touch/iPhone: Hold down the Standby or Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds until the Apple logo is displayed.
All other iPod devices: The procedure varies depending on the iPod used. Please refer to the operating instructions of your iPod for the correct procedure.
5. Resynch iPod/iPhone with iTunes at a PC. Perform a restart of the iPod/iPhone. Then reconnect the unit to the Media Interface connecting cable.
Note:
The following options are available to restart the iPhone/iPod (for further information refer to the operating instructions of the iPod/iPhone):
iPod touch/iPhone: Hold down the Standby or Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds until the Apple logo is displayed.
All other iPod devices: The procedure varies depending on the iPod used. Please refer to the operating instructions of your iPod for the correct procedure.
General note:
Invoicing under warranty or goodwill is not permissible because the customer is using the wrong connection options or the customer's device is the cause of the malfunction.
