How did you use media technologies in the construction and

research, planning and evaluation stages?

Did it improve your work?

• I think that some of the technology that was available was useful, however with more advanced technology I would have been able to edit both my trailer and magazines to a better quality. For example if I had Sony Vegas instead of iMovie and Photoshop instead of fireworks they would have been easier to edit.

• For my research and planning section I have used basic software's such as PowerPoint and Word, these we useful as I've used them many times before and know that they are reliable. With me knowing how to use the majority of software I’ve been given I'm able to produce my research in a good way, thus improving my work.

• Also the blogs have vastly improved my work as I'm able to put it all in one place and present it in an appropriate manner with images and texts making the whole project look professional. The blogs have also helped with my audience research, with the blogs having the ability to have polls on them, this means that my target audience or the general public can give me feedback by just going on to my blog, thus helping with my research.

Did it offer more opportunities?

• The technology did offer several opportunities which I could have used and helped some aspects of my work, for example on the blogs there is a ‘polling’ system however I decided to use questionnaires instead, I think both are suitable for my work, but the polling would have been more technical but I’ve used questionnaires in the past and found them successful.

• Also the blogs have offered me more opportunities as I am able to present my work in a better manner then just paper based. With all the other technology being compatible with the blogs it means all my work can be accessed and viewed in the same place with no complications whilst also looking professional.

Did the technology hold you back in any way?

• Without the accessibility to more advanced technology, such as Photoshop and Sony Vegas, I think both the images, and footage could have been edited better thus improving the quality of products, for example ‘Photoshop’ has a lot more editing devices then ‘Fireworks’ so I could of gone for a different perspective on the images I had. However I still think the images I had were edited to the best of my ability.

• Also the camera we used to film the majority of out footage wasn’t as high end and as good as quality as we could have had it to be. Whilst filming and editing we found this to be a problem as the camera’s night vision was very poor and disrupted some of the movements of the actors/ actresses.

Why did I choose each type of technology?

• I chose to use the technology I have because most of it I have used before either in my AS course or other parts of my education progress. Software's such as PowerPoint, Microsoft Word , and Fireworks are very simple for me to use now, thus making them easy choices for me to use them in the creation and presentation of my products. The only software I wouldn’t as comfortable in was iMovie, I used this partially during my AS project to edit our clip and knew my way round it, however I think ‘Sony Vegas’, would have been more successful as I have used it in the pass, and the capabilities are much higher than the ones of iMovie, however this software was unavailable to me thus I used iMovie which did more than a good enough job.
