Research

I feel that YouTube was a crucial tool in allowing me toaccess music videos of my own choice. YouTube is whereall music videos are uploaded. Before constructing myown music video based on the pop genre, I researched onYouTube, popular music artists of the pop genre such asCher Lloyd, Ellie Goulding, Taylor Swift etc.

From these videos, I specifically focused on the differentlocations, the numerous costume choices and the propsthat relate to the pop genre.

I also looked at some music videos that consisted ofanimations such as Black Eye Peas – The Time and SweetLike Chocolate.

I used Prezi to put together my creative ideas ofthe conventions of a digipak and magazineadvert. Prezi allowed me to present myselfeloquently. I then used it to put together apresentation specifically focused on female popartists as my song choice was sung by IngridMichaelson, a young female artist.

Prezi allowed me to express myself throughimages and videos as well as eloquently.

On Webs I created my own online account andcreated my own webpage, going through step bystep the journey of my research and planning andhow exactly I constructed my own music video, thatI believe to be very similar to real media products.This was really important in helping me track myprogress and the development of my project.

I used the calendar on webs to note down all thedraft filming days, the actual filming days, wherethey will be located and what time ill be meetingwith my actors and actresses.

I used Google images to find artists of the pop genreand their costume choices, their make up and theprops used in the pop genre. Being able to quicklyfind screen shots/photos of artists was a reallyvaluable tool. It enabled me to quickly form a clearbasis for the image construction of my artist.

I did research on Goodwin’s theory about the convention’s of a music video.

Planning

I used YouTube to upload my drafts of the two differentanimation clips. I created a variety of different clips andannotated them with the corrections that I needed to makewhen I made the actual animation for my music video.I uploaded my feedback from my class onto Webs andannotated with the ideas that I was going to use from myaudience. Without the internet I would not have been able toaccess audiences so quickly or share my drafts with such bigaudiences.

I used Photoshop to practice constructing different fonts increative ways. I uploaded my drafts onto my webs account. Ialso used Photoshop to edit pictures to familiarize myself withthe tools as I was not very experience.

I used Webs to upload all my planning and decisions that Imade for actual music video. When I planned to film Inoted it on my calendar.

I used Google images to find images of real female Popartists use it to construct my ideas for my music video. Iused images to make decisions mainly about costume andmake up as I wanted to conform to the conventions of areal Pop music video.

Construction

I used the DLSR canon camera to film some parts ofmy music video. I also used the camcorder to filmthe other parts of my music video. The DSLR wasuseful mainly when I was building my animations asI took pictures and then put the images together tocreate my animation. The camcorder was usefulwhen filming the narrative of my music video.However, the DSLR image quality was much better. Iused the DSLR in manual focus but there were issuesthat I came across after filming the footage. Some ofthe footage was crisper than others. But it al paid offas the DSLR footage cam out beautiful and it pickedup all the colour and details.

Camera’s

Photoshop played a massive part in constructing myancillary tasks. I used Photoshop to create a background,new layers, make adjustments to images that I took myself. Ihad to create a digipak and a magazine advert for my musicvideo.Photoshop have me the opportunity t enhance my editingskills. I was able to do the micro editing on my print tasks.However, this was frustrating because making small changestook such a long time. For example, the lashes of my actresscame out wonky but I was able to fix this on Photoshop.These small changes were not noticeable. But it allowedme to appreciate the complexity in print editing.

FINAL CUT PRO

Motion

Final Cut Pro is the software that I used to assemble all my video clipsthat I recorded and place them in the correct place with the correctbeat. Final Cut Pro allowed me to add additional transitions to my musicvideo to make it smooth and cut to the beat. Using Final Cut Pro I wasable layer a few clips in order to fit into the narrative of my music video.Final cut pro allowed me to do precise editing in terms of the beats andmatching the claps to them. The hardest thing was matching thefootage to the song in terms of lip syncing.

I used motion to create a bokeh effect at the beginning of myvideo. I used that bokeh effect in my ancillary tasks to keep itconsistent. The thing about motion is, it is very difficult towork around and nobody really notices the complexity.

Evaluation

I used Power Point to explain step by step the way inwhich I constructed my video and ancillary tasks throughmy research, planning, constructing and evaluating. I feltas though using PowerPoint was the best way to explainmyself for this particular question.

I used PowToon, an animation website to create an animationabout how used my audience feedback to construct my musicvideo. In order to meet the mark schemes, I need to thinkoutside the box in terms of using a range of technology. Iresearched a few ways to creatively present my ideas andcame across this website. I felt as though through myanimation clip I was able to express myself and answer thequestion.

I used Final Cut Pro to construct a video with all theconventions I used from real media to construct my ownmusic video. I also added the subverted factors and justifiedmyself. As I had to use a range of different programs I felt asthough making a video would have been easy for me since Ihave used it for the past 2 years. However, in Final Cut Prothere is always more to learn. I used my music video, cut it upand inserted images on top to form a video about how I usedreal media texts.

I think Prezi as the best way to present my evaluationquestion. It allowed me to move back and forth from oneside to another while presenting. Prezi allows me to presentmy ideas eloquently, embedding video clips and images tomake the presentation more visual and engaging.
