After taking down my media consumptions, I started analysing the type of medium that has been used the most. I know that I am constantly on my phone as it is an easy accessible device that I take and use everywhere I go. Looking through the table I spend a lot of hours on the phone than any other device/platform of media, I mainly use it to communicate with my friend or check up on my social media apps such as Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram. It is a constant habit to check my phone now and then as I get notifications making it hard to stay away from my phone every day.
When it came to adverts I found out how much I have been exposed to them unintentionally. Adverts are everywhere I go, whether it’s when I’m travelling on the train or when I’m on a media text such as tablets or phones. Most adverts on devices tends to just pop up now and then specially
Date Time Duration Content Location Intentional exposure?

30/10/15 4pm 45 minutes Adverts Underground tubes
No Billboards on the tube – various types of adverts promoting or trying to appeal audience by time consuming strategy such as poems.
30/10/15 5pm 1 minute News Tube No – someone was reading it
Glimpse of the article someone was reading on the tube

when looking through specific items on shopping sites, it will then appear on my social network and will suggest items similar to it, persuading audience to consume the product. Also it is shown when I was listening to music; like Spotify, music channels and YouTube. The adverts that pops up tends to be relevant to the place or time, for example with Spotify it would promote consumers to subscribe to them so that they would not get adverts in between their songs and also allow them to listen offline.
This would attract a lot of their target audience as it is convenient for them. Another advert that reflects to the time and place was when I was on the train, there would be billboards and adverts that would promote audience to buy certain ad-ons to their internet usage that will allow them to use even when underground, with the target market being a wide audience, it is reaching out to a lot of their audience due to it being advertised at the place where they would need internet connections. Therefore I think that majority of the adverts are useful, as it informs you information’s that you may or may not know and would be useful in your everyday routine such as the internet signal when being on the tube. In addition, with other formats of media such as tablets and TV, it shows that the only time they are used is when I have free time. Tablets are also a great tool of technology as it allows us to watch episodes on demand wherever we are, in the tables above the only time I used my tablet is when I want to catch up with my series or play games. Other than that I use my phone to update me with social media, although I could also get apps such as Facebook, Twitter etc on the device.
From recording the media intakes I consume daily, it is clear to see of how much media I have been exposed too without intending to especially with advertisements. They are everywhere and promotes different aspect of the media, whether it is promoting a lifestyle or a product. I do not realise how much media is being exposed to us until you actually note down the little information’s you consume everyday even if it is just for a second.
