MEDIA ALERT WENDY HARMER AT THOMPSON SQUARE ON AUSTRALIA DAY When: Sunday, 26 th January 2014 Time: 12 noon Location: Thompson Square, Windsor Great Australian and well-known and much loved media personality, Wendy Harmer is coming to Thompson Square in Windsor, north west of the Sydney CBD. This Australia Day is being celebrated in style at Thompson Square Windsor and a great family day is planned, with games and craft activities for the kids, heritage tours, totem tennis competitions and the GREAT AUSTRALIAN CUPCAKE MUSTER, which is being judged by Ms Harmer. The Square has been continuously occupied by protestors since Sunday, 21st July 2013 after thousands rallied there to protest against the O’Farrell Government’s plans to bulldoze a major arterial road through Australia’s oldest town square. Despite planning approval being granted by Minister Hazzard just five days before Christmas, the ‘CAWB Consulate’ in the Square remains occupied 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is proving to be a powerful symbol of resistance and a rallying point for the mounting community anger towards the State Government over this matter.
