For over 135 years, Peebles Funeral Home has served the families and community of Fayette County and the surrounding areas. Being family owned may not be important in all businesses, but when a death occurs in your family, you want to know there are people who genuinely care. Not all funeral homes today are family owned. That is why we felt it was important to tell you that we still are.

We realize that planning a funeral is probably one of the hardest tasks that one might ever undertake. You are full of so many emotions and yet you are faced with having to make some very important decisions. These decisions come at a fast pace, and the process can feel overwhelming at times. Our commitment to you and your family is that we will guide you as we work through this emotional process together. Our staff is here to help you plan a unique personal service that honors your loved one. We want to help you make this a special occasion to be shared with family and friends and one that will be remembered by all who love your family. Attention to detail is very important and we want you to know that we promise to be attentive to all things. Every staff associate is expected and empowered to do anything it takes to serve your family well.

The funeral arrangements that you select will include a charge for our basic services and overhead. Unlike other funeral homes who consider these services as extras, we consider them as SIGNATURE SERVICES. We believe every family deserves them and therefore we offer these enhancements at no additional charge.

FAMILY FOLLOW-UP SERVICE We continue caring for your family long after the services are complete. Over the next few weeks, one of our staff associates will be checking on you to see if there is anything we can do to continue serving you and your family.

ONLINE MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AND CONDOLENCES We will place the obituary notice, the photo and the slideshow on our website to allow your family and friends to read the notice and post their condolences for your family. The memorial tribute will remain on our website for years and years to come.

FLORAL DELIVERY Following the service, we can deliver the floral arrangements to your home if you need us to assist with that. We have even delivered some arrangements to the local nursing home or assisted living facility. Please note that we try to limit this to a 25 mile radius.

CARDS FOR FLORAL TRIBUTES We have requested that every florist make a duplicate card for each arrangement they bring to the funeral home. Our purpose in requesting this is to be able to leave one card on each arrangement during the service so that you and the guests can see who the arrangement is from, and the duplicate card is placed in an envelope to make it easier for you when you sit down to write thank you notes to each person.

GRIEF SUPPORT ON YOUR SMARTPHONE You can download our complimentary custom Peebles grief support app on your smart phone. This app will help you work through the stages of grief. A TRIBUTE TO OUR VETERANSA few times throughout the year as you drive along U.S. Highway 64 between Somerville and Oakland, you will notice the most beautiful visual tribute to the Veterans who are buried at the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery. Peebles Funeral Home proudly displays American flags at the gravesites of men and women who served in the Armed Forces. The staff takes pride in honoring those who have served our country and who chose to sacrifice so much for the freedoms that we all enjoy today. We utilize our local Boy Scout troops to help place the flags and they receive credit for their service as well.

A FUNERAL SERVICE

Funeral expenses are classified into two categories —— 1. Our charges, and 2. Cash advance expenses paid to third parties, such as the cemeteries, hairdressers, ministers and death certificates. As a convenience to you, we are willing to administer payment to any third party on your behalf. Confirmed provisions for payment in full are required at the conclusion of the arrangement conference. Payment for all charges can be made using any of the options described below:

— A personal check, cash or any of the major credit cards.

— Prefunded funeral policy arranged through our funeral home.

— Prefunded funeral policy arranged through another funeral home as long as the policy can be verified and a copy of the policy is approved.

— Assignment of benefits from an assignable, in-force life insurance policy in the amount of the funeral charges only. We do require a personal check to be given as a promissory note until the assignment proceeds have been received. If the assignment is not approved by the life insurance company, then the promissory check on file will be deposited for payment in full for the funeral services rendered.

— If needed, we can refer you to a local bank or lending institution for financing options.

BURIAL SERVICES Traditional Funeral Service Family and friends are invited to the funeral home to pay their respects to the deceased and offer condolences to the family. Visitation provides time for sharing and remembrance and is followed by a funeral ceremony at a place of your choice or in our chapel. The graveside service and burial will follow.

Graveside ServiceFamily and friends are invited to the cemetery to pay their respects to the deceased and offer condolences to the family. This ceremony is done at the cemetery. Following the graveside service, the deceased is placed in their final resting place.

CREMATION SERVICE Traditional Funeral Service Followed by CremationFamily and friends are invited to the funeral home to pay their respects to the deceased and offer condolences to the family. The deceased is placed in a cremation casket of your choice. Visitation provides time for sharing and remembrance and is followed by a funeral ceremony at a place of your choice or in our chapel. Following the funeral ceremony, the deceased is transferred to our crematory for cremation. Once the cremation process is complete, arrangements are made with the family for the return of the cremated remains or the placement of the urn in its final resting place.

MEMORIAL SERVICE OR CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICEFamily and friends are invited to a ceremony for sharing and remembrance of the deceased at a time either before or after the deceased has been placed in their final resting place. This service is free from the presence of a casket. Our chapel or an alternative location can be arranged with photographs and personal items from the home.

INDIVIDUAL SERVICES AND FURNISHINGS GENERAL PRICE LIST

BASIC SERVICES OF FUNERAL DIRECTOR & STAFF $ 1,895This fee for our basic services and overhead will be added to the total cost of the funeral arrangements you select. Our charge includes, but is not limited to, staff to respond to initial request for service; licensed funeral director to consult with family or responsible party; preparation and filing of necessary authorizations and permits; recording vital statistics; preparation and placement of obituary notices; staff assistance prior to and following the funeral service, including coordination of service plans with parties involved in the final disposition of the deceased with 24 hour availability of personnel 365 days a year. Also included in these charges are overhead expenses relative to our facility, such as insurance, furnishings, maintenance and utility expenses, parking lot and grounds, secretarial and administrative expenses, professional licensing, legal and accounting fees, taxes, equipment, inventory expenses, and government compliance regulations.

EMBALMING $895Embalming is not required by law. Embalming may be necessary, however, if you select certain funeral arrangements, such as a funeral with viewing. If you do not want embalming, usually you have the right to choose an arrangement that does not require you to pay for it, such as direct cremation or immediate burial.

CREMATION FEE $725Cremation definition according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary is the process of reducing a dead body to mostly tiny bits of bone resembling ash that involves exposing the body to flame and intense heat followed by pulverization of bone fragments.

REFRIGERATION SERVICE FOR THE DECEASED $175After 3 days following the date of death, refrigeration services for the deceased will result in an additional charge of $ 100 per day.

THE WILBERT WAY — GRAVESIDE SERVICESThe burial vault is usually set at the graveside for a brief service before interment. After the service, the cover will be placed over the base and sealed, and the grave will be backfilled, compacted, and then seeded or sodded.

PERSONALIZATION CHOICES The personalization of a vault allows for reflection on a cherished memory at the graveside service. As shown above, meaningful choices are available to personalize the carapace (cover) on many vaults to help you prepare a final, fitting tribute at the cemetery.

WHAT IS A BURIAL VAULT? A burial vault is a lined and sealed outer receptacle that houses the casket. It protects the casket from the weight of the earth and heavy maintenance equipment that will pass over the grave. It also helps resist water and preserves the beauty of the cemetery or memorial park by preventing the ground from settling.

If the outer burial container is not lined and sealed, it is not a burial vault. An outer burial container, or gravebox, is an unlined concrete box with drainage holes to allow ground water to escape.

Burial vaults are constructed of high-strength concrete and reinforced with a metal or plastic liner. They provide the most lasting protection.

SELECTING A BURIAL VAULT As you select the vault for your loved one, you should consider several factors - the vault’s material, design and personalization options. The vault’s construction is a major consideration.

Wilbert burial vaults are offered in three levels of protection, PREMIUM, STANDARD, and BASIC. See examples below for details.

ADDITIONAL VAULT PURCHASE INFORMATION In most areas of the country, state or local law does not require that you buy a container to surround the casket in the grave. However, many cemeteries require that you have such a container so that the grave will not sink in. Either a grave liner or burial vault will satisfy these requirements.

If you are purchasing a vault from Peebles Funeral Home, we do not claim that the vault is air and/or watertight. Please refer to the manufacturer’s warranty for the merchandise you purchased.

The Wilbert vault company has a delivery, set, and seal fee of $425 for each vault, Monday - Friday.
