MechoShades®

MechoShade® is the original manually operated, chain-driven, roller-screen system featuring the multi-density ThermoVeil® and EuroVeil® shade cloth programs for total control and a color range that complements the environment for interior shading.MechoShades are available in a choice of two drive systems in up to four bracket sizeswith accessories. Features include removable SnapLoc® shade cloth mounting spline foreasy removal and reattachment of the shade band and SnapLoc® fascia cover to concealthe hardware. The Mecho/5 system is the only hardware and shade cloth system with a Lifetime* Limited Warranty, with 100% replacement and no depreciation over the life of the warranty.

Skylighter ShadesThe ElectroShade® SkyLighter™ Shade is a specialized shade system designed for solarprotection and room darkening requirements where horizontal, inclined, angled or bottom up type shading is required. The system consists of custom engineered flat, tensioned and soft-fold shades available as top down, bottom up or horizontal systems. These systems may be guided and supported by side channels or overheadcables, augmented by roller bearings, or idler rollers, for angled or curved windows.Available with all ThermoVeil® shade cloths in all colors and densities and/or roomdarkening shade cloths for multimedia environments.

Audio/ Visual SolutionsThe MechoShade® Room Darkening and Audio/Visual (A/V) System consists ofMechoShades or ElectroShades® in an integrated program for any A/V and home theater applications. The program consists of our blackout shade cloth, room darkeningside and sill channels and light seal hembar, plus other features. ElectroShades can interface with all A/V systems, dimming systems, low voltage and 3rd party controls via RS232 Ports; RS 485 or dry contacts.

ElectroShades®

MechoShade® Systems, Inc., the leading provider of window management systems for over 35 years, has introduced acoustical changes across its entire ElectroShade® line. All ElectroShades will reduce noise by 40% or more. For additional noise reduction, theoptional Quiet Shade System (QSS™) enhancements allow motorized shading systems to be 50 to 85% quieter that comparable, untreated systems. For an even quieter environment,our QSX™ option is being offered. The QSX decreases the noise level by OVER 85%.

ElectroShades are ideal for conference rooms, and other VIP spaces, public spaces, high bay windows and atriums where accessibility is a problem. The Sustainable Shade ClothInspired by William McDonough and Michael Braungart’s book on “Cradle to Cradle” design, MechoShade hasworked closely with MBDC to create an eco-effective fabric for our solar shade systems. Solar shade solutionshave always been an important part of sustainable design. Now we’re introducing EcoVeil, our revolutionarynew shadecloth.

Truly RevolutionaryEcoVeil is more than PVC free, it is designed to be what MBDC calls a “technical nutrient”, which means allinputs are being evaluated for their impact on human and environmental health.

As a true “Cradle to Cradle” shadecloth, EcoVeil can be reclaimed and remade into new, first quality fabric, rather than “downcycled” into a product of lesser quality or worse – go to land fill.

The different ThermoVeil /EuroVeilShade Cloth densities are designed to compliment a building s glazing type and orientation. First determine the density and then select the correct color. The same color is availble in different densities.

Used where extra density is needed for the most effective operation of VDT equipment, especially as visiblelight transmittance relates to screen visibility and to visual comfort. Medium and dark colors reduce glare andreflection on VDT screens and lessen interior illumination.

Shade Cloth Density:Selection compliments glazing. We use the daylight or visible light transmittance as the basis for fabric selection to assure brightness + Glare Control.

In recommended densities, ThermoVeil®and our thinner, finer EuroVeil® shade cloths provide a significantreduction in solar heat-gain and greater protection from the radiant component of sunshine. The resultingreduction in solar energy and improved personal solar protection lowers energy requirements by reducingA/C loads. Worker productivity is improved through the control of brightness, glare and solar radiation onpeople, CRT screens and work surfaces. The increased use of natural light has been determined by health-care professionals to reduce absenteeism*. ThermoVeil shade cloths are available in a wide variety of densities, weaves and colors to complement the daylight and solar transmittance of the glazing.

Both ThermoVeil and EuroVeil are woven vinyl/polyester shade cloths with antimicrobial** properties thatdo not support the growth of microorganisms, are flame retardant, less toxic than burning wood, wool orcotton and have no measurable VOC’s***.

C. Manual Shade SystemMecho/5 system is a patented pre-engineered overrunningclutch design that disengages to 90% during the raisingand lowering of the shade. The brake can stand a pull force

of 40 lbs. (18 kg) for a 10 lb. (4.5 kg) shade in the stop posi-tion.Requires no adjustment, resulting in faster installations.The drive assembly, the idle-end assembly, and the centersupport systems are attached to the 1/8 in. (3.175mm)steel universal mounting bracket. Self-lubricating hub on towhich the brake system is mounted includes an articulatedbrake assembly which assures smooth, non-jerky operationin raising and lowering the shades.

In both systems the shade cloth shall be removable with asnap-on and snap-off mounting (Snap-Loc®) spline withouthaving to remove the shade tube.

D. ElectroShade® Motorized System:1. The motor shall be tubular asynchronous and con-

ceased inside an extruded aluminum tube with asy-metrical channels to which the shade and the moun-ing spline are affixed. Internal limit switches shall be readily removable without having to remove the motor or the shade-tube assembly.

E. Control SystemManufacturer’s standard system customized to projectrequirements. Multi-zone shade controls and operations as specified.

F. Pockets / Blackout Channels / SnapLoc® Fascia1. Extruded aluminum pocket with exposed tile support

and pocket closure with baked-enamel finish.2. Accessibility by removing closure. No exposed

screws or mounting means. Pocket shall be sized for:a.Single shadeband.b. Front and rear shades (sunscreens and blackout

material) side-by-side mounting.c. Overlapping shades (two rolls of shade cloth) either

high-low or side-by-side mounting for room darkeningwithout center blackout channels.

d.Side and center blackout channels appropriately sized for manual or motorized operation.

3. Extruded aluminum SnapLoc® fascia which continuouslyfits on the end and center brackets as a one-piece section over two or more shadebands.
