Minutes of the Manchester & District CTC Committee Date: Thursday 11 th June 2009 7.30pm Venue: The Welcome Inn, Bury Old Road, Prestwich Present: Peter Barnes, Terry Hodges, Glynn Jones, Trevor McCarthy, Phil Rigby (chairman), Mike Roberts, Ian Ross, Mavis Ross, Graham Trunks, Mike Wigley 1) Apologies for absence received from: Dave Butler, Len Morris, Harry Woodcock 2) Matters Arising from the previous meeting: The minutes of the meeting dated 12 th March 2009 had been distributed prior to the meeting and were accepted as a true record David Butler had mentioned that the next CTC National Council meeting would be held in Manchester on Saturday 4th April and details would be in Cycle magazine. Mike Wigley asked if anyone had attended (no-one!) which wasn’t surprising as he couldn’t find details of venue and time in Cycle nor on the website. It’s not sure why the CTC want to take their meetings around the country if the details aren’t to be made public. 3) Reports from Officials a) Secretary several people asking to be put in touch with CTC groups to ride with. Email from someone unhappy with one of the cafes advertising in Northern Wheel. While we take no responsibility for the advertisers, it was felt generally that this person was either unlucky with getting poor service, or had unreasonable expectations, as many cyclists use this cafe without complaint b) Treasurer Terry Hodges has now set up the Barclays details with any 2 of Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary authorised to sign cheques. The grant of £481.95 received from National Office Ian Ross reported that West Manchester CTC and Nova have separated their formerly joint accounts, so West Manchester details will be recorded through Manchester & District CTC c) Magazine Editor/Publicity Officer/Membership Registration Officer Graham reported that the Spring/Summer Northern Wheel was now available at £1.50 There is £1614.85 in the Northern Wheel bank account with £2.82 in cash He has lost 9 advertisers but new advertisers have been located, others have upgraded their adverts to full colour so things are fine. The print quality is not so good this time but Graham is looking into it. Graham has not received a membership list since February. He had been emailed by Adrian Lawson asking Graham to provide an up to date list of “our” postcodes. Mike said we had done this last November in his year-end reports - a lot of work for Mike to meet the deadlines so it’s disappointing if this has been lost or ignored. Mike said he would write to Adrian querying why we’ve not had membership lists when we’ve already done the post code split (but as it happens, a membership list arrived the day after our meeting so no letter or email was sent). Graham sent 73 “welcome” letters to new CTC members in our area since our last meeting up to May, but he won’t send any more out for now.
