State in Higher Education and Student Affairs in
1999. Two years later, she received the Outstanding
Emerging Professional award from Ohio State’s HESA
program.
Dell has worked at a number of four-year institutions
and two community colleges. Areas of focus have

engagement, social justice, leadership development,
first-year experience, and co-curricular learning.
During her time as the Director of the Center for Service-Learning at Carroll
Community College, she received the International Collaboration Award from
the Corporation for National and Community Service for her work building a
dual-college international service experience in Belize. Recently, Dell was
named a Top 100 Active Citizen by the national non-profit BreakAway.
At CCBC, Dell is now the Director of Student Life for a multi-campus institution.
She oversees leadership development, the First-Year Experience, civic

Session Block I
The Pursuit of Happiness Building H, Room 308A Karol Martinez, Director of Student Activities, MICA
What makes people happy? What is the relationship between stress and happiness? What is the relationship between success and happiness? Join me in this interactive session to discuss these questions and what the research says. In addition, the session will allow participants to dialogue with colleagues about simple practices for generating daily happy experiences.
What the Heck Are They Thinking? Why Are We Giving Them Multiple Chances? Building H, Room 308B Crissy Fabiszak, Assistant Director for Student Life, CCBC Toni Aho, Assistant Director of Student Life, CCBC
Have you ever wondered what students are thinking and why they are given multiple chances when they make bad decisions? Learn a little about the goals of Student Life and how Student Development theory guides them. In this session you will recognize many of your student leaders, aides and general population at your institution.
Uniquely Me, Universally Us Building H, Room H-308C Chianti Blackmon, Director of the Center for Student Diversity, Mount Saint Mary’s University
This workshop is aimed at expanding your understanding of "diversity" and it's various dimensions and your personal identity The goal is for participants to better understand how their worldview shapes their interactions with students as well as offer insight to some of the challenges our students from underrepresented populations face and how we can best serve them.
Social Media: What's In It For Me? Building H, Room 331 Fred Bartlett Jr., Instructor, CCBC
Facebook and twitter are often associated with younger generations and shameless self-promoters but it is so much more. In today’s fast paced and ever changing market place, you need to be able to know what your customers and competition is saying about you, your company and your products. Information is key and getting into the conversation is the first step.

This presentation will invite participants to engage in self reflection, to think about the identities and experiences we each bring to our jobs every day.
