The focus was on the Smartphone penetration as m-commerce saw a significant adoption with daily deal sites frequently visited by smartphone consumers while out for shopping. Smartphone is viewed as a springboard for growing mobile media and advertising as well as m-commerce.

A study by Harris Interactive revealed that 85 percent of adults who have completed a transaction using a mobile device expect their experience to be better than when using a desktop computer. As retailers witnessed this shift of shopping trends with customers tuning to smartphones & tablets for deals & offers, effort were put in by retailers to reach up to the expectations of consumers.
